[ it's funny: shirley had walked to the clinic in the same way - drawn to it, though, before she had even realized its existence offered some sense of knowledge and familiarity. and it was strange because the familiarity didn't derive from her immediate fit in any clinic. as if she knew this clinic specifically. she didn't even have time to deny the feeling when her feet led her through the doors, and residuals of her own magic molded to her presence.

she has been here before.

whether she has or not, the staff's familiarity with her hadn't alarmed, though. she has a reputation, after all; people either hear of her or witness her. and if she has been here before... imagine her surprise, though, when they gave her so much control and trust in her authority.

it is convenient: food, shelter, and safety until she left. ("they" could say as much as they wanted. shirley knows no definiteness, and unbreakable magic is only unbreakable to the weak. there is a way, and she will find it.) with her authority, it can be a place for the children
