[You're standing alone, with the shell of someone you once loved. She's beautiful and horrific all at once but she's all you have left. So you find yourself entertaining the idea of keeping her around. To have something to cling to.

She speaks in a strangely curious tone.]

We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief?

[Is there? You're unsure. It seems everything hurts now. It's been one thing after another and your life never quite turns out the way you hoped it for. After years of loving her from afar, she had finally been yours. And now she was this. This God-king. This thing.

And yet, there's a romantic in you still, and despite everything there are things you have to believe, otherwise you'd go mad.

Well, you already feel mad. But it could get worse, right? There's always a worse, right? Though you can't imagine what could hurt more.]

There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy... that your life will lead you to some joy... that after everything... you can still be surprised.

[You had been surprised, despite everything. Things you've done (things you don't quite remember right yet). Things that have happened. But she kissed you and there was joy again. There was hope.

It had been a surprise.]

Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

[You have no answer. You don't know anymore.]
