Hollows.

Not visible to the normal human eye and they usually feast on souls.

Normal? So is there anyone who can see them?

Yes. There are those of us among those of the world of the living who don't necessarily fall into the 'normal' category.

And the soul reapers, Shinigami, who's job it supposedly is to stop them.

Yes, I'm from Kuchiki-san's world, although not of Soul Society.

So you're not a shinigami yourself? [He has to say the word carefully. It's utterly foreign to him.] Are you able to fight the monsters?

No, I'm not. I'm the last of a clan of spiritually aware humans called Quincy.

[He nods]

I am. My clan absorbs the spiritual particles in the air and channels it into bows and arrows.

So you use magic to charge your weapons and kill the monsters?

[He looks excited. That would be something that he could actually relate to.

Something else strikes him too. The last of his clan.]

I suppose it could be considered magic if one wishes to think of it that way. I actually use it to form my bow and then form the arrows as needed.

Form them?

So your weapon...it's unbreakable? Inexhaustible?

[Instead of answering, Ishida just takes a step back from the forge, and forms his bow, using the star hanging around his right wrist as a focus.]

It's only limit is set by the limit of the individual Quincy's power and the reishi in the air. The more reishi, the more power we have, but the Quincy has to have the ability to properly know how to utilize it.

Still, it's pretty amazing. I've never seen a bow like that.

[He laughs a bit, but it tapers off.]

What happened to the rest of your clan?

[This is Ishida's slightly smug look. He likes hearing people say that.]

[And then the smirk is gone.]

They were killed about two hundred years ago.

Did the monsters kill them?

No.

It was due to a disagreement in methodology.

A disagreement? Who killed them? How did you escape?
