[It’s a battlefield. That much is obvious. Some place out in the ruins, probably a nondescript enough spot before it was littered with the diced remains of creatures whose form, size and number aren't quite possible to tell from what is left behind. In the deep background is the impossibly huge Destroyer, looming like enormous conjoined angels of death, unmoved by the fighting at their feet.

Deneve's face, grim and pale, is visible for only a moment as she turns her Forge in her hands before clipping it to her belt.]

To those defending the city and its inhabitants. The situation has changed.

[Deneve moves, quick and sure and there is a flash of metal as she hefts her swords and holds them out before her. Their tips point directly at a creature that is probably at least six times the size of a normal human being with monstrous catlike features.]

It is no longer just a matter of squabbling superpowers. The volume of our enemies has exponentially increased. They will surely storm the city.

[She must have her Forge attached to her fairly securely because it barely shakes as she charges the monster at a ridiculous speed. She seems to run up the body of the creature, taking off both its arms on her way to stand on its back.]

They are not normal monsters. They aren’t even really alive. So cutting their heads off will not be enough.

[Just to prove it, she slices into its neck and the creature’s giant head falls to the ground. The creature neither staggers nor gives much of any reaction, excepting the odd noises and undulations of the wound. Seconds pass and the wound erupts and sprays a collection of very distasteful looking rods into the ground before it.]

Under no circumstances should you allow yourself or anyone else to be struck by these spines. They may come out of any wound you deal these creatures and they are designed to sap energy and infect any living thing they contact. The best course of action is to cut the monster up as much as possible as quickly as possible to drain its energy. They have a limited amount. Take out the arms and legs so it cannot move. Eventually it will cease to function.

[With the spines discharged, the creature stands for a moment more, long enough for Deneve to leap lightly down and land a safe distance away, and then it topples to the ground. Inert.]

They will come in waves. Look for the ring of spines around the giants’ heads to know when to expect them. It is impossible to say how many waves will come or how long this will continue. After everything that has come before… consider this the real hell.

[That sounds a bit grim, but at least you can tell Deneve isn’t sugar-coating the truth at all.]

Everyone strong enough to fight these things should do so unless you want to see the city overrun. And anyone not equipped to fight should stay out of the way.

[And with that, the Forge clicks off. Public service announcement over.]
