Hello . . . ?|

[ there's a burst of white noise as the Forge's setting is abruptly switched from text to audio, but the man behind the transmission doesn't seem to be entirely satisfied with the output format. he mumbles to himself as he investigates further, some bits and phrases more audible than others -'should take care not to lose ( Read more... )

[Hmmm, it seems he's heard some of the hard news already] Ukitake.

[ He pauses; here's yet another voice which he'd rather hear under a different set of circumstances. ]

Hitsugaya-taicho. Is there a particular reason why you've favored audio over video when contacting me?

[ The question is half lighthearted, half concerned - he's always favored talking face-to-face; anything else is disorienting. ]

[ Look, Ukitake, he's falling into the habit, because people tend to judge him by his pint size life less if they talk to them before they see him 8| But FINE, he'll flick on video. ]

Is that better?

don't be that way, baby. video; maelstroms May 26 2011, 17:08:39 UTC
Much.

[ You've managed to make an old man smile, Toshiro, the skin at the corner of his eyes crinkling with the expression. By now, you should know that Ukitake doesn't judge...! He just fathers. And he's glad to see that less than amused face - everything is as it should be. ]

You've been fairing well, I trust?

[And of course Ukitake is still smiling despite being abducted by mysterious forces and trapped in this dangerous world. That's comforting, at least.

Maybe.]

I haven't been here long, myself. You mentioned Karakura Town. What was the last thing you remember?

we'll see. :> video; maelstroms May 26 2011, 22:54:39 UTC
[ Way to dodge his question, shorty. And way to immediately take control of the conversation. Wasn't Ukitake the one asking to conduct a debriefing? The questions should be coming from him, not the other way around.

But, he isn't one to complain, so he'll just nod and keep that smile where it is, tyvm. Consider it a show of his confidence. ]

So I did. The last moments I'm able to recall are those spent in combat against the Primera Espada.

[ Which isn't the precise truth, but he isn't about to confess the last thing he remembers is being impaled by an Arrancar's hierro. ]

[NO TIME FOR IDLE CHIT CHATTERY]

Hmm. It seems like most of those who have come here from our world are from a point in time earlier than I am.

[ So astute, Shiro-chan. But Ukitake does wonder, for a moment, if the smaller younger captain feels isolated because of it. ]

Ah? I'm aware that Inoue Orihime heralds from a time well past Aizen's defeat. Is the same true on your part?

It's been over a week. [though 'well past' makes it sound like Orihime's from even further along...]

Have you ever heard of anything capable of bending time like this? [You know, since you're 8 million years old or whatever]

[ Yes, yes. We all know Ukitake is a dinosaur. And even dinosaurs have their uses. ]

There are kidou in existence, their use strictly forbidden because of the power they hold, that are capable of halting time and teleporting areas of space, but I doubt either could be performed on such a grand scale as Anatole.

Different forces are at work here, I'm certain of that. I've never seen anything quite like 'the Door' that's brought us here.

So some source of magic either from outside our world, or at least unknown to us. [His expression reflects nothing but confirmation of what he was already thinking]

One of the other "Scorched" here found records that date this phenomena back hundreds of years.

Maybe the most important question is whether something's drawn us here on purpose, or whether we were selected at random. Considering the number of residents who seem to be somewhat powerful in their own right, maybe whatever energy's behind this door simply finds itself drawing in those who emit a certain kind of power. [Yeah that's... the best he's got]
