[filtered away from Bellatrix. Of all the people he disagrees with, she's the only one he knows of for whom his own words/actions can serve directly like a starter's pistol.]
[Even for Lupin, he sounds and looks tired.
There also seems to be blood on his hands.
(Which distracts from other questions: like how the forge can be elevated and moving with him as he walks when both of his hands are in view.)
In any case, the tired and bloody may have something to do with the following, rather unprecedented tone:]
Forges are incredible devices. Granted, we use them quite freely without understanding their workings, the method by which they're anonymously supplied, without charge, on arrival, or the identity and motive of the supplier. All of which is a bit ludicrous, in a world where we're worried about being manipulated. But it's true that they can also serve as a lifeline and an invaluable tool.
I admit to being tired of certain trends of their usage.
[He's arrived at his destination: a sink. The background where he's walking is by now clearly the Clinic.]
Mostly, I would very much like if I could strike the words "us" and "them" from all vocabulary.
[doesn't turn on the water; just shakes his hands into the sink and the blood falls completely away. The Merlinian wizards (Hermione, Tonks, Draco)-but probably not Merlin (!?)-could recognise that he'd cast
impervius on his hands. Well, in the absence of surgical gloves…
The forge is still following him though he doesn't bother looking at it.]
In usage: "one of us", and "people wonder why they don't like us".
I paraphrase the sentiment as I've heard it most recently, but if it were localised to any one forge, or any one person, I would respond privately to them. It does not.
Logistics drive us in obvious directions. Knowing that should give us more ammunition with which to resist, and attempt unobvious directions. We must categorise reality in order to improve our understanding of it, but it is a basic fallacy to turn names into things.
[may not be an intentional spell, but the force of his own intent makes those particular words ring a bit, and possibly stick, on some level, in the mind.
Looking away again, he spreads his fingers, palm-down, over the sink, and wordlessly/wandlessly* casts Scourgify. The forge is not positioned to look down into the basin, but a few drops of blood that had fallen near the lip abruptly vanish. The sink is gleamingly clean.
Adds in semi-afterthought, gathering himself,]
Forges themselves are a divisive force. That may well be their purpose.
[thoughts gathered]
In all cases: I would be much more impressed by shows of displeasure with the situation if they came in the form of resisting these insidious trends all the harder.
[He turns away from the sink. The forge follows, showing a bit more of the Clinic. But now he reaches out to pluck his forge from mid-air. Obviously not worried about being discreet with magic today.]
I have also overheard many legitimate concerns that the number of healers in Anatole has significantly dwindled. I am no substitute for Sakura, but in her honour, I will be here at the Clinic for as much time as possible with all the healing powers I possess.
This should only affect my dojo schedule in an emergency situation, but we shall see how it develops.
[No wonder he looks tired. Between the dojo and the clinic, he clearly doesn't plan on ever sleeping again.
…Which may well be part of the point.]
I have a few things to attend to now but I will attempt to respond to all messages on my next break.
[switches off forge en route to his pocket.]
[
OOC: Like I do, celebrating day one of my intended slowatus with a honking big post. ;-) It's all about lowering pressure isn't it? And of course that
idea had struck.
Now here come the geeknotes!
(a) All responses will be delayed by a few hours as he does more medic-ing.
(b) He's definitely unusually negative today. See: overwork, personal life drama, and I died when I checked today's moon phase.
(c) *casting even a small spell wandless is more tiring. When he's clearly knackered already, not using his wand may strike some perceptive wizards as a strange choice. I'll check my own files but I think he's generally careful not to show the wand in action over the forge network. He's being more open about having magical powers himself, but is avoiding making the wand a target for anyone who might misinterpret it as a stealable source of the power. After all, it's got more than the usual sentimental value.]
