[The forge comes on, as Lady's placing it cross from her, in nothing more than a t-shirt and short shorts, a bandage across her right thigh. With a hunting knife in one hand, gauze in the other, she slips back on the floor, resting her knife beside her, gauze in her lap ( Read more... )

Lady?

That looks um. Painful. Don't you think you should get it looked at?

It looks nasty, but it looked worse a few weeks ago.

Weeks!

[Did she just squeak that word out? YES I THINK SO.]

But...! Shouldn't you see a healer? If you've got a wound for weeks, it seems like you should... I mean, even a few days is-- we have healers!

[Whereas Lady fails to see what the big deal is. Oh, the joys of being a human hunter.]

I've heard it tossed around, yeah. But you're going to have to forgive me, I'm not comfortable trusting my well being in someone I don't know fairly well.

...I don't think that's really something that needs to be forgiven, but don't you think it's dangerous, I mean I've never known someone to keep an injury that long on purpose, and well I understand that bit about not being comfortable but even so I have to wonder if--

[WAIT. STOP. CATCH YOUR BREATH. She nibbles on her bottom lip.]

Err! I just don't want you to end up with a problem! Like... I don't know, problems that happen. From um. Wounds that don't heal right and--

[...this isn't going well. And not at all how she expected it, since as it turns out she has no idea what happens if you leave a wound untreated for a while.]

[So. Change of plans.]

What do you think of pottery?

[Whereas Lady looks at her for a few moments before trying to stop herself from letting out a laugh. Or at least a suppress one. And yes, that is a rare smile from her.]

I'll be fine. It's been cleaned, treated, and has stitches now. The fact I can walk around is good enough for me. Besides, it's not the first time. I've got more scars to prove it.

[NO, LAUGHING AT YOU. Sorry.]

Hey, it's something, yeah? If you like it. Can't say I ever did it myself.

Scars are kind of... well. I have some myself, but I don't think I'd choose them, if I could avoid it.

[In fact, she wears bandages under her uniform to hide them. Ah well.]

[...And maybe she would sort of lapse into self-pity, as she is wont to do, except that laughter makes her blink, and then makes her smile.]

You know what? I've never tried it either! But I think it might be interesting to do something that doesn't involve, um, weapons.

Neither can I. Can't say I'm really proud of the one on my nose, but there's really no use crying over spilled milk, you know?

[It's faint, but it's there if you look hard enough. But really, it's a sympathetic smile, she won't tease her.]

Yeah! It would be, it'd be a nice change of pace, wouldn't it? Who knows, you might be talented in it and you just don't know it.

How did you get that one?

Oh! Unless you're sensitive about it! If you are then, um, pretend I didn't say it? Because I didn't! I mean, we can pretend I didn't. If you are.

[...yeah. She glances off to the side a little.]

Mrmph. Anyway! I'll probably end up making all kinds of malformed plates. But it'll be okay! I don't need to... eat on them.

[Actually, she is, just a little. She'll never say or tell -- it was one of many scars she got from her father.]

Eh, I think I got it in a fight, I really don't remember, so it's alright.

[Oh, no, you don't. She might as well sound like an over-bearing sister or mother at this rate.]

Hey, practice makes perfect, of course not every plate is going to turn out right the first time. Don't let that discourage you.
