5th Task || Sebastian Michaelis [Voice]

Good evening. I hope everyone is well. I myself have been rather busy as of late.

[In fact, some of you might have spied Sebastian among those clearing rubble in the Ruins, looking out of place in a full suit and tailcoat. Weirdly enough, anyone at the Patrol HQ for meal times would have seen him as well. Strange, that he could seemingly be two ( Read more... )

What manner of studies do you seek for him?

The standard curriculum. Arithmetic, sciences... ah, perhaps literature and history would be rather depend on the tutor's world of origin, of course.

He is thirteen years old, but rather... precocious. To give you an idea of his current academic standing.

What world of origin would be preferred?

[A less invasive way of asking his charge's origin.]

We come from a world called Earth, in the country of Great Britain.

[Sebastian sounds British enough himself, although perhaps just a tad archaic.]

You would think of allowing him into a school with the [distaste!] ...native [brats] children?

I'm merely attempting to consider all my options. My master's well-being is my top priority.

[A pause.] Is there something you find unsavoury about the native children?

[As much as she tries to narrow down just what is wrong with them ...she can't.]

I ...am not sure.

Perhaps it is just in his best interest if he is schooled with others ...like himself? I am speaking of other Scorched.

[And how are finances a concern? She seems to have been doing quite well for herself ...by. Uh, what's this? Yes, Bella. You really did kill natives and steal their homes on two separate occasions.]

...Ah.

[There's something off about this one. He's not quite sure what.] Yes, I suppose that might be best. Are there schools for Scorched children? I'm not familiar with any.

It'd be a shame if he couldn't continue his studies, bein' nobility and all.

Makes me wonder how he ever survived the hardships during his short time with us.

He is well cared for already, I assure you. But I sincerely thank you for your concern, Mr. Joker.

Ah, I don't doubt that. But I can't help worryin'. Just between you and me, the boy didn't seem too happy last I saw him.

I wouldn't worry. That is simply his natural disposition, I'm afraid.

[Yeah, naming him Smile? Very ironic of you.]

I believe you'll have to educate him yourself with supplemental lectures from other sources. [Trust him. He's done this before. Sort of.]

Oh? Is that so? [He's substituted as a tutor for Ciel in a pinch, but he'd rather not make a full-time gig out of it.] Have you been forced to teach someone yourself?

For several years. He had outside information as well, but since you don't have much choice as far as finding a qualified tutor...

Children are versatile. I doubt you'll do him a disservice.

I see. And you've been here for several years, have you? That's quite impressive.

Such a young charge that he cannot teach himself?

Or is it some other obstacle?

It is not a matter of "can't" so much as "won't." He believes himself to be quite knowledgeable about the world at large already.

[He smirks softly.] The hubris of youth.

Hubris? Hardly.

I know enough to survive. That's all I need to know.

I'm sure you agree that there is quite a difference between surviving and thriving, young master. My job is to help you thrive, whatever the environment.
