Humans are always cruelest to those smaller and weaker than themselves.

{Cue the shock of our Doc's first broadcast. He's got nothing. No clue what that was, why that was. Nothing.}

{Come on, say something. She's speaking to you.}

It's in our nature.

[There's a moment-- just a moment-- where she sighs. She could get after him about this, pick on him for such obvious notions... but it's not obvious, is it?]

I know. But nature can be overcome, can't it?

{No, but it's an easy, four worded reply that might suffice as a conclusive statement... }

{... or not.}

Who are we to overcome it? Isn't that why it is what it is? Overcome artificial factors, fine. Of course. Create, modify, evolve.

But nature is nature. Some things, we merely have to adapt to.

[There are no conclusive statements, as far as she's concerned. Sorry, Doc.]

We're not creatures who do nothing but follow their urges, aren't we? We can value and use skills, no matter the size or strength of whoever holds them.

We aren't forced to walk the paths our ancestors did, and that includes choosing to destroy humanity itself like that. Or else, why even survive at all. It's human nature to die, too, you know.

{... crap.}

I do know that. Don't speak to me like--

{...}

-- actually, just cease speaking.

{Grr, argh.}

[Ah, the old status quo. She's okay with this-- she isn't feeling much like exerting herself.]

Greater men than you have tried to get me to do that. Much older men, as well. We're pretty sure it's impossible, though you're perfectly welcome to try.

But since I'm feeling generous, I'll leave you to think over my very valid, very good points.

{If she's smart, which she is, she likely isn't expecting a reply to this... painfully legitimate bit of jabbing.}

{Instead, enjoy the sound of a Forge being pitched full force into a wall, snapping the thing off almost instantly.}

{Truly, the gadget disintegrating on impact wouldn't be the worst thing to happen today.}
