A lot about this place should be impossible. But it's not. The proof of it's all on the network, really. About this time last year there were a string of murders of the Scorched population. Only one of them didn't come back.

He was. It was a guy called Gerald Gaskin, ran a hot air balloon company. A bunch of guys in masks and cloaks dragged him off--I heard they were the Twins' Secret Police.
