I've heard things about wanting to start up some kind of community food service. Frankly, I haven't eaten in two days, so this sounds like a great idea. Are there any specifics on it yet?

I'm gonna be freaking pissed if this is just some kind of sick joke.I can cook all right, which seems to be a rare ability here ( Read more... )

Well, it's still just an idea, but Souji and I are trying to get the details ironed out, I'm afraid.

All right.

[He sounds a bit disappointed, but understanding of the situation]

Still, I'm available to cook if it ends up working out.

I'm sorry. Do you need any help finding food?

And we'll definitely keep that in mind, thank you!

No, I'm fine for now.

[He's confused why everyone keeps trying to help him. Still, it's a good feeling that people wouldn't just leave him at the side of the road to die.]

Thanks anyway, though.

That's good to hear.

If you run into any problems, the people around here are generally helpful.

[a pause] Well, the rest of us who were brought here are at least. The natives aren't very nice, though there are a few who are.

I've figured that much out, at least. They act like I'm diseased or something.

I think it's more along the lines of we're oddities to them.

It must be awfully disconcerting to say the least to suddenly find strangers from other worlds around them.

Hm. Maybe.

You'd think they'd get used to it, though, and stop treating us like crap.

[He stops, wondering when 'you guys' and 'me' became 'all of us'. Maybe there's something unifying about being far from home and confused.]

Generally, they do leave us alone though I'd prefer if they didn't keep raising prices and lowering wages of available jobs just at the sight of us.

They do that, too?

Joy.

[a frustrated sigh and mumbled curses. He speaks an a slightly abashed tone. He's not used to people helping him, or really even living in any kind of community.]

Anyway, thanks for telling me all this.

[she laughs softly]

It's really no problem. You shouldn't worry about it.

My name's Oruha, by the way.

It's nice to meet you then, Leon, though I wish it were under better circumstances.

You, too.

I've found that people I meet under dire circumstances tend to be the most trustworthy, at least.
