Don't worry about it, kiddo. I'm starting to get used to that sort of thing -the whole I was there but it wasn't me thing- since it happened to me right before I wound up here, only I think I was dead at the time. Or just mostly dead.

You picked a good spot to get away from things, though.

One of the last things I remember before being dropped here was having a hole blown through me. The next thing I knew, I was perfectly fine, the guy that did it was missing pieces of himself. ...but I wasn't the one that did it. It's... kind of hard to explain, especially when there's nothing to relate it to.

Out of curiosity, what do you know about Shinigami? I mean, I know some things, but I was dumped into this job without any sort of training and Rukia's explanations are always accompanied by bad drawings so they're hard to understand, but the rest of 'em aren't terribly inclined to explain things to me because I'm not "official"... and I don't want to bore you with anything you might already know.

And once they eat someone, they can absorb that person's memory, and take that person's shape. And then they just with those people... their families, their friends... eating whoever they want. And no one can tell who they are, because they copy that person perfectly so unless you can sense their yoki power it's impossible to know which is which.

It was my job to find them and kill them. Me and... people like me. You can tell who we are, because we're all blond and have silver eyes.

We used to be human, too! But now we're... I guess part yoma. But we don't eat people! Actually, we barely eat at all.

That... kinda sounds like home. Only most of the Hollows I've run into don't copy the souls they eat. Actually, nobody can see them because they're just souls like Shinigami.

...no, wait... there was one that did, sort of. Grand Fisher had a lure on its head that could look like the people it killed... because it tried to throw me off by taking my mom's face.

I couldn't avenge her. I tried, but I couldn't do it. I wasn't strong enough, but if I ever get the chance to try again, I'm going to.

See, I can see ghosts and spirits and all that stuff. I've always been able to, but because I leak reiatsu, Hollows were drawn to me and I put my entire family in danger without even realizing it. It was going to hurt my sister... so I took Rukia up on her offer and ran myself through with her sword. I wound up taking all of her power from her, but she gave me the strength I needed to save Yuzu...
