[Deep breath.]
Uh... h-- hello?
Um. Hi. I'm-- my name is Hope Estheim. [He swallows, and there's a bit of a pause.]
Someone told me that people arriving from other worlds really isn't that strange here. You-- uh, you probably get questions like this a lot, but... I'm looking for some friends. They're pretty [and for a second he sounds amused]

[She's a little sullen on account of flaming vampire centaur things. And Riza's terrifying lineface.]
I'm Dawn. Are you okay, Hope? I mean, otherwise okay?
Reply
Hi, Dawn. [It's nice that someone responded to him with a name.]
I'm... confused. Thinking I might've just hit my head too hard, or something. [Or, that's what he hopes.] I'm not-- injured, or anything.
Reply
It's confusing. But you're not dead. Or in Hell. Or dreaming. And it's not always scary here? You should be safe where you are. Do you need anything?
[I'm kind of grounded right now, but this is like ...this is different, okay?]
Reply
[Okay, nodding, nodding.] There's, uh-- there's a lot to take in. [He said, stating the obvious. His head tilts to the side a little as he thinks.
Sheepishly;] I should probably get some food. Inter-world travel makes you kind of hungry. [Also he's a teenage boy.]
Reply
Oh! There's food here, yes! That's probably a good idea, with the travel and all? I was hungry when I got here and I didn't even know it.
Did anyone tell you that there's a ramen shop? There's a cafe, too. A-and we're not open yet, but um ...there's gonna be an ...alchemic bakery? [She's not really sure how to describe it.]
Are you okay going alone?
Reply
Right. Yeah, that's-- that's good. [Not that he'd really considered them not having food. Now he is, though, and he's glad he didn't get stuck in a world with no food. Always a plus?
But back from that mental wandering;] You... didn't know you were hungry?
Oh, no, not about that. I guess I can go find it.
[And there's a pause. He's been warned about evil muffins but, uh, he's-- he's pretty sure that guy was making fun of him.] I-- hope no-one chips their teeth on gold baked goods?
Ah-- ha, yeah. I should be fine.
Reply
[There's a pause, and she's laughing really hard. Not really at you, Hope. Well, kinda. But it's not malicious.]
Oh, no - they're not made of gold, they're made of ...well, flour and spices and stuff. Alphonse is just using alchemy to make them cause it's quicker! We're gonna have ovens too, just in case we want to kick it old school. [Yeah, she said that.]
N-not that a gold muffin is bad, really. Just not edible. But it'd make a really good ...award, or ...maybe we could just color some of them with gold icing hmmm. Anyway!
Okay. Don't be afraid to just ask for help if you need it, though. A-and maybe stay away from guys with silver hair. And ...uh, DEFINITELY the ruins.
Reply
[ :| He's been here less than a day and already a girl is laughing at him? Great. Great.] Oh! Right. That sounds cool? I've never, ha, never really seen alchemy before. ["kicking it old school." sounds like something Sazh would say. And he's kinda old.]
I-- [He was going to say HE WON'T, but now--]
What's... wrong with silver hair? [He's looking extremely awkward right now. Possibly self consciously tugging at his own very silver hair with a gloved hand, just for a second.]
Reply
Well, there's this guy...

...his name's Yazoo. He's dangerous. And he has silver hair. But Sephiroth's okay and he looks alot like...
...oh. OH! I. I didn't mean YOUR hair. Your hair's fine! It's pretty! Y-you have good silver hair, like uh ...I don't know, second place medals and um really good flatware? His hair is bad. It's silver plated hair. Only instead of turning your skin green, it totally turns it gray. And makes you crazy.
[...]
...you had to be there. Stigma. It's a thing.

Yazoo? And Sephiroth. [Making a mental note to remember those names, and those faces, if he ever sees them.]
[Pretty? -__- That isn't manly sounding. One day in and he's already been asked about his girly name and told he's got pretty hair. But, not the point! So he ignores that minor blow to his ego, and just scratches the back of his head.] Thanks.
Crazy? And... stigma. [He's thinking that over.] He did something that, uh... marked people and made them crazy?
[He doesn't know if that's right, but if it is--] That... does sound pretty dangerous. Are people still hurt, or...

You're welcome! I guess Al has silver hair too, kinda? He's technically a suit of armor right now, but it's a little silver. Ish. [Whatever. It makes sense to her!]
Yeah. I-it came with a side dish of mind control? It was pretty bad. I don't think anyone's still sick, but some of the Natives died. I would have died if Cara hadn't kissed me. And before you ask, it's a healing-kiss-spell-thingie. Not a real kiss. She's like. Old.
I got these really gross grey spots, and they started oozing. It was bad. There was ooze. And a fever! And I think I babbled incoherently.
But everything's good now!

Oh. How is... [He's confused. Again-- still? Either fits.] I didn't know people could be suits of armour. Wow.
Mind control? [Okay he's... he's never heard of anything like that.] I didn't know that was even possible! And people dying--
[Quiet for a few seconds. This sounds pretty serious, and it takes a minute for the rest to sink in.]
... Right. I've... we don't have healing spells that work that way at home. [For which he's kinda thankful, actually.]
I'm glad you're better! Ooze and fever doesn't... sound good.
[Just where the Hell has he ended up? .__.]

I didn't either, but it has to do with alchemy, I guess. His brother lost limbs, but Al lost his whole body somewhere.
And thanks! I'm glad I'm better, too. But really, this place isn't all bad, I swear!

What's it like where you're from? You said you have spells there?
Reply
[Silence for a sec. Quietly;] That's awful. Is there a way to get it back?
Yeah. Hopefully some good stuff happens soon.

Uuuhhh. Well-- [Ah. Ha. How to explain?] It's pretty frowned on. In my world, I mean. It exists, but people don't believe in it, or they think it's bad.
Reply
I don't think so. At least, not that he knows. But that doesn't mean not ever. I-it just means not yet.
Hey, I met you! New friends? Always good.
[/private]
Wow. That's a lot like my world, too. Most people don't believe in it at all, and a lot of people think it's bad.
[...]
I can do some magic. [Cause that's impressive, right?]
Reply
... Okay. Then I... guess I hope a way gets worked out soon. [He shivers a little - the thought of not having a body any more is scary.
He laughs a little, quietly.] Right. New friends are always good. One to us, at least.
[/private]
Really? [Hmm.]
O-oh. You can? [He sounds confused. Hesitantly:] Congratulations. [And a pause.] Me too.
