I'm guessing this device makes me heard by some random stranger out there. It's been quite a while since I've addressed an anonymous person, so I apologize. I guess being asleep for too long isn’t beneficial to anyone's social skills.
[A pause, then a soft chuckle.]
Brother, I wonder if you’re listening. But I don't think it's a bad idea to hope. Things here seem rather safe, except for that strange fog outside. But it's better than anything I had imagined prior to waking.
[Another pause, then what sounds like a sigh.]
Never mind that. I’m not expecting any familiar face. Nor am I expecting any warm welcome. But I wouldn’t mind it if I knew I had company in this strange land.
