When all around us turns to ashes [video]
[There is a rather scared-looking Johan on the Forge. In the light behind him his face looks partly black, but that's just because yellow light does very funny things to blood. Ruby is on his shoulder, but she's not her usual chittering happy self--her tail is curled tightly around the back of his neck, her fur is on end, and she's baring a tiny pair of fangs at someone off-camera. The way the screen is bouncing might also be a good indication that the run Johan's on is not exactly a cardio-boosting jog.]
Guys? Anybody? Hey!
[Somebody behind him yells something about demons. The screen jolts, and a line of static runs across it while it shows a sideways view of street paving before a hand slaps down on top of it. Anybody watching this feed will have a fantastic view of Johan's fingers for a second or two before he manages to get a good grip and raise it again.]
Can anybody hear me? Guys! RUBY!!
[Aaaaaaaaaaand there is now also a bloody Ruby in this picture distracting the bloody Johan. Someone is never going to be forgiven for this. Johan whispers something in Norwegian and puts a hand on Ruby's back to keep her in place.]
I'm near the carnival. I think--
[This time it's obvious he stumbles on something and falls. The Forge screen goes dark. It might still be broadcasting . . . or it might not. The only way to find out is to hail him.]
