...Can anyone tell me more about the job situation here? I can't believe I'm already low on money.

I used to deliver newspapers, but that was a long time ago. I've also heard about the paid fighters but let's consider that as a last resort.

But nothing is for free, right? I don't particularly like those tunnels, but at least they're familiar.

There's some bloke around called Grimmer. He's looking to do something with newspapers.

Otherwise, just pick a place and apply. Or borrow money and start your own operation.

Grimmer. I'll remember that, thank you.

...You mean they'll actually loan us money here?

Depends on where you go. There are the proper loan shark types down in Dismas. I loan people money sometimes.

I was wondering when something a bit more familiar would show up.

And what are your repayment terms?

Mmh, the natives here don't like us, so it'd be a better bet to get a job with one of the Scorched.

I'd suggest the Patrol run by Priscilla. She never turns anyone down and joining gets you a free place to stay at the Headquarters.

Some of the worst attitudes I've encountered.

[Sounds like she's already experienced a little of the prejudice.]

Hm. It does sound like it gives people a purpose. [And that is important.] Ah, are you a member?

The Patrol isn't bad.

You're the second to recommend it. I take it you're a member?

I am.

It's convenient in that it provides a residence. And, except for an assigned partner, you don't have to deal with people much if you choose not to.

[An assigned partner...well, she's not as antisocial as some she can think of, but it's still not something she'd be used to.]

I guess that has its advantages. Though most of the people here seem civi, even helpful.

I was in your position not that long ago. I work at the Foxhole, it's a nice environment and doesn't require me to fight on a daily basis at least.

Talk to Helen if you're interested.

It's nice to know that someone understands. The tunnels are...

I can deal with uncivilized people one at a time, but there's just too many down there!

The natives will hire you if you find the right one, but expect to be cheated. Other than that, some of the Scorched own businesses. It all depends on what you're good at.

I'm afraid that's the only job I've ever had. I'm trained with the blade, but...

[She trails off. Using it isn't the sort of thing she can make a living with. Or more correctly, the sort of thing she -wants- to make a living with.]

I think I'll stick with the Scorched.

Hmm. What kind of blade? Do you think you could teach? There's a dojo, I think we have room for another instructor.

A katana, though I started learning with knives.

[Teach? She pauses to consider that. It's not the same as the Arena. There's also the chance to teach others how to defend themselves and live, the way that she was taught.]

I'd like to try.
