[there is a click as the recording begins]
--mmm? [static. A few beeps as the Forge is inspected] These gadgets are far different from what I last remember. [the tapping of a nail on glass] Complex. I wonder...
[the creaking of bed springs. Footsteps, followed by the screech of unoiled hinges and a gust of air. There is a long pause as Haruka

Haruka-san?!
[his hands fumbled over the Forge, yeah saying nothing else... just staring at it, hoping to hear the voice again!]

Hello again, Watanuki-kun. This is quite different from our usual encounters, isn't it?

Now I know I'm dreaming...
This is different from usual... yes.
[Pause]
You're really here?

I'm afraid we're no longer in that world. [a light click of his tongue as he experimenally presses the mattress of the bed down, feeling the dust stick to the palm of his hand. The dream world was different from this place - it was more fluid, lighter. He was no longer able to feel the connection to that place, and the paths to other dreams that one could grasp at a thought were not present.
He found himself thinking of smoking. It was the first time since his death he was in want of a a cigarette.]
My son did say I should have stopped smoking when I was nearing fifty. Perhaps I should have followed his advice. [he smiles when he remembers that conversation.]

Yes... right... I know that. It's... [Head shacks and he takes a moment. Letting this unreality sink in.]
You're really here then...
You're really here. But you don't... sound like-- [Pause] Fifty?
[Yes, Doumeki, if you're still in the room, you just saw a very confused look on the boys face. If Haruka is 'alive' and 'here' AND knows of the Doumeki that Watanuki knows... he SHOULD be old, yes? ---So why's he sound so young and know of the dreams and--- ARG! This was confusing. Thus after a bit of a ...er... 'flailing' sound he sighed]
... Huh... Haruka-san...
[watching as Doumeki (the shizuka one) talks to his grandfather too, he smiled kindly to himself and said:]
It's been a while. It's very nice to hear your voice again...

'Now' was for other things. Such as teasing Watanuki, who just stepped into that one.]
Now, now, Watanuki-kun. You mean you don't want to see my youthful face? [a pause, for effect] Ah, that's right, you see Shizuka often enough.
[But yes, why he wasn't as old as he was when he died could be something of concern. On the other hand, he didn't know why he appeared young in the dream world, either, apart from that it allowed him to reach Watanuki in his dream after he fell out the window.
Either way, things were fine as they were.]
Yes, it's been a while.
[silence]
