[Ever since she met Isley, Priscilla had come to expect a daily dose of mysteriousness in her interactions with him. And admittedly, he had been hinting to her about... something!]

[All of which means she isn't completely surprised when she comes into the ballroom and finds... well.]

[Everything.]

[Even so, her breath hitches, and it takes a good deal of self-control not to start crying right there. Which she refuses to do, because that would be... really embarrassing. So she gives Isley a kind of openly melty look and searches over the attendees to flash a sheepish little smile at Kaien before settling in to do her normal Party things.]

[Which mostly means mingling.]

[WHILE WEARING A DRESS!]

[...and occasionally sipping strawberry punch.]

How's the whole birthday thing going?

[She's subdued, but still cheerful, as she approaches Pris from the wall she's been hanging near, offering a berry from her small plate of them with a grin.]

It's a great party. How're you enjoying it?

[Oooh berry! She smiles and accepts it with a grateful little nod.]

Well! So far no one evil has turned up. That's a good thing!

And... I didn't really want a party, to be honest with you. But I'm having a good time. So I guess that makes it good.

That's a good thing, indeed. You deserve to have a good time. You do a lot for everyone; isn't it fair that people do a lot for you, sometimes? Occasionally, you have to let people fuss. [Not that she expects Pris to agree. Hell, even she doesn't agree with the idea-- well, not often.]

Besides, it's nice to have something to celebrate, don't you think? Especially a birthday. How old are you, anyway?

Well... it just seems strange to make a big deal out of someone's birthday. I mean, nothing especially special happened, really... but Isley always does what he wants, and...

[She glances off, past the crowd to that silver-haired man, always visible for all his... whiteness. and because he's tall.]

...I'm really flattered, honestly. He's... not really the celebration type. I mean the party type.

[...]

Oh! I'm eighteen!

You were born. It's a celebration of the gift the world's given us... or so I've been told before. ...Uh, the gift is supposed to be 'you', in case that's not clear.

[She follows Priscilla's line of sight. She's never met or had any interactions with Isley, and so this is the first impression she's had of him.] It's a nice gesture on his part, then. It's very low-key, as far as parties go. That suits you, I think. You deserve to be able to relax.

...Especially since you act more like you're thirty than eighteen. I would never have guessed you to be so young.

[Priscilla laughs softly, and rubs her face with one hand]

[Because, really, Isley isn't one for nice gestures, either. But why bring that up?]

Mmrph. I guess I've had to grow up quickly here. I started the Patrol when I was 16. But that seems like a lifetime ago.

This place does have that effect. But you've done a lot for your age. Lifetimes ago or not, that's pretty impressive. The patrol is well-run, and it's all thanks to you. [She pats Priscilla's arm fondly.]

Be proud, Pris. All these people came because they like and admire you.

Mmm. Thank you.

[She gives the ceiling a vague sort of look, and for a moment debates whether to mention that, technically, it kind of was a lifetime ago. Technically.]

...I don't know about being proud. But I'm definitely flattered! That people went out of their way, that they came...

And I'm glad you came! I haven't gotten to speak to you much recently. I'm sorry, everything's been so...

[Helen arrives a little later than she planned, but it was never a question of whether she'd go or not.]

[...Though speaking of questions, why does her dress have spoons on it?]

[The point is, she's finally there, waving and calling enthusiastically. She sent the beverages over a little earlier, but hasn't been drinking herself.]

[Priscilla is just about to greet Helen with all the appropriate warm and cuddly goodness, and also comment about how she wasn't sure Helen would even come, considering the identity of one of the arrangers, but...]

[Well. When she turns to look at Helen, all that comes out is...]

[Helen pauses and looks down at herself, her grin only wider when she looks back up again.]

I figured you'd have cake, so I came prepared.

[Guess they didn't have a dress with forks on it?]

Hey, you want me to make my rounds? Shake down anyone who didn't bring a gift?

You're... going to eat with spoons from your shirt?

[BLINK BLINK. ...well maybe she should let this go. Although, it's really weird!]

...err. I'm not going to terrorize people for presents!

Probably depends on how badly I need the shirt.

[Somewhere, Senji's probably cringing at the very thought.]

Oi! You should! They don't need to be taking advantage!

[She shifts around a little.]

...anyway, people came. That's very presenty to me.

Of your like...generosity and stuff. The food, the socializing.

[Helen sighs after a moment.]

But...it's your birthday, so if it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me!
