[She's seen this woman - as Tonks, as Dora, as a mask worn by a one who should be (would be) dead if Remus hadn't forbade her from separating her wand from her hands by way of separating her hands from the rest of her. Unlike Deneve and Priscilla, she doubts that bitch's limbs would regenerate so fast. But those are thoughts she does not wish to entertain - no time for this - even though it's time, an endless, twisting path of it stretching out before her, and---

--had she just said---

...of all the things to misinterpret.

Blinking, mouth opening and not finding the words. (What was this, the gift of the fucking pair of them?) The very thought of it elicits a laugh - silvered, bitter little thing.]

I'm not hawking my wares, Nymphadora.

[ The wince doesn't waver the smile that's returned to her lips, doesn't even reach her eyes, but her finger pauses in its tapping at the jar.

No, Not-Nymphadora. How could she have forgotten that? Dora? Too familiar. What then? Miss Tonks? Just Tonks? She shouldn't have to bother with courtesy, and yet she is. She can't not.]

Just a word of thanks for your ...public support on the network.

Pardon me, you're sitting in a kissing booth. I wasn't aware.

[Her comment could have been casual but the expression on her face is anything but.

When had she ever stated her given name over the Forge network? Had she? No. She hadn't but Remus Lupin had. In that moment, she realizes that what she say over the network is or can be visible to others. She'll have to be more careful from now.

But then, there is also her tone. It isn't just that she says her first name, it's the way she says it. She says it like she knew it would bother her, like she is familiar. When she combines that with the way Lust is looking at her, studying her, it more than makes her uncomfortable.

Tonks opens her mouth to speak. She surprisingly thinks about it and decides to back off. There's enough strangeness with Anatole and the people she already knows. She doesn't want it from a stranger, at least not a stranger who looks at her the way Lust is looking at her now.]

Sorry. I think I'm going to be on my way now. I've a show to put on, you see. Have a nice day.

[Damn.

A tiny huff of irritation at herself, at the situation, and at whatever else decides to present itself as such a fucking complication as she props her chin onto her elbows and scowls.

Nymphadora.

Really, is that what she'd said aloud? Ridiculous of her to have addressed the other woman like that, and anything but what she'd intended. When had everything gotten so turned around?

Now there was a question she thought she knew the answer to, but the more she examined it, the more things became blurred, crossed and obscured. A hard and brilliant thing to draw her in - but with too many facets to comprehend. Too many answers and none of them clear.

She's silent as Dora speaks. She recognizes this look - the uncomfortableness she's usually so keen to generate - but in this instance isn't happy in the least.

Not here. This is unwanted and it makes her feel small and petty and wrong, because she should have known better. And yet she'd spoken without thinking.

A moment later and she can't be sure if it wasn't on purpose. So she drops her gaze without reply, gives Dora an exit (because that's what she does isn't it? Gives people exits? Or is it just giving them reasons to?)

It doesn't matter.]

[ooc: but she is curious about the show!]

Ye Olde Kissing Booth - they could form a 'Let's Kill Bella Club' maybe, possibly, who knows wotchesyou May 14 2011, 17:56:28 UTC
[Uninterrupted, Tonks continues on her way. Everything about the way this woman looks and speaks to her make her feel uncomfortable. While it could have been Anatole, Tonks feels that it is more personal than that. All clues point to that it is personal.

How is she supposed to react to the personal nature of this? Confrontation? No. Tonks does not know what she could be getting in to. Ignore it, no, he can she? Leaving is the best option and she's going to take that route.

After she's walked a few years, Tonks turns her head in the direction of the kissing booth. She gives both the woman inside and it one last parting look. She will not be coming back to it.]
