#11-20 #21 - Silence
They’re in an empty meeting room when Kame says it, puts voice to the throb in his heart whenever Nakamaru is near-I love you-and in the gentle, rejecting pause that follows, Kame feels his cleave into two.
#22 - Journey
The ride back is long, the trees zipping by in a green blur as Ueda drives them home, and Nakamaru smiles when he feels a soft weight land on his shoulder, tufts of hair ticking his chin, the sweet smell testing him, luring him to turn his head just so-Taguchi’s watchful eyes meet his through the rear-view mirror and Nakamaru feels suddenly exposed.
#23 - Fire
The snow is a startling, beautiful white, a contrast to the steaming depths of Nakamaru’s black coffee which burns his tongue on the very first sip; when Kame comes down at last, snowflakes powdering his hair, he greets Nakamaru with a kiss that sends the rest of him on fire.
#24 - Strength
Nakamaru learned not to judge Kame by his small size early on, back when they were kids and everyone would group up to get lunch after practice, and Nakamaru would look over his shoulder to see tiny Kamenashi kicking at the dirt, pretending he wasn’t left alone; want to come? Nakamaru would call out, casual yet uncertain, and tiny Kamenashi would shake his head and smile with the strength of ten suns.
#25 - Mask
“Yes, thank you,” Kame answers the reporter with a flick of his bangs and a disarming smile that is the perfect balance of polite professionalism and friendliness, and Nakamaru tries valiantly to keep his expression together, hoping that the movement of Kame’s hand from under the table-where it travels up Nakamaru’s thigh and squeezes-remains unknown.
#26 - Ice
“Hello to you, too. Had a bad day?” Kame asks with a raise of his eyebrows when Nakamaru enters the room and pointedly takes a seat on the far side of the table; when all he receives is a frigid silence, Kame abandons words altogether and walks around the table, folding himself over Nakamaru’s back and smiling into his neck as he feels Nakamaru thaw under his touch.
#27 - Fall
Kame can pinpoint it to that day-the day after his fight with Yamapi in the park-when Kame came in sporting an impressive bruise across his jaw and felt Nakamaru’s worried eyes following him wherever he went until Kame had enough and swirled around in a fit of embarrassed fury-what do you want-and Nakamaru floundered, the concern in his face heightening impossibly, filling Kame with a warmth that was equally impossible, I just-are you okay?, and that was it; Kame fell for Nakamaru the moment he showed he cared.
#28 - Forgotten
From what he’s heard, Johnny’s parties are always a loud affair, brimming with talents from all sectors and Nakamaru already feels unsteady as he enters the fray with his newly debuted group, like he’s walking on water, not ground; Kame doesn’t walk at all-he soars, swept away by a senior at every turn, his eyes glittering to match the décor, and with a sudden, empty ache, Nakamaru realises that unlike the rest of them, Kame belongs.
#29 - Dance
It’s starts off with an innocent comment, usually Nakamaru’s-I think I practiced too much; my lips are sore-which Kame catches with a wicked grin and spins into something that is the opposite-I didn’t know you liked it rough; that changes my entire approach-until Nakamaru coughs and carefully sidesteps with an ignorance they both know is feigned; the dance comes to an end when Ueda says, with much disgust, “god, can you two stop flirting?”
#30 - Body
He’s seen it on the glossy pages of magazines, on TV as he flips through the channels, in dramas and movies, he’s seen it displayed on giants billboards and subway posters and still-still Nakamaru thinks, mapping the curve of Kame’s body as they lie in the privacy of their bed, feeling the edges and dips, the sheer heat the camera failed to capture-it’s still a wonder.
