Threatening Behavior

I am completely disenchanted with the Faire, for those of you outside of Anchorage, I mean the Three Baron's Rennaisance Faire. I have been affiliated with the Red Court of this faire (a sub-group of a 150 person endeavor) for the last 6 years. In the last 6 months I have lost one person I had, at points, considered a friend and been threatened by another who I had no emnity towards at all. I have waited until the fair is over to tell this story and some of the details are fuzzy as my memory is not the crystal clear vessel that some people have, but I am going to tell this story until it stops bothering me.

The strange part of this story is how everyone in this story thinks that they are doing a good thing, from start to finish and I want to highlight this as things go terribly wrong because everyone goes overboard(including myself, twice, some would say).

The story starts in November at a meeting to try adn start the season for the Red Court. I had been working on it on and off since the fair ended in June, There was a lot of work to do and I wanted there to be some real bonuses for the red court the next year. I had taken up bladesmithing and had started doing some basic decorative Blacksmithing. May plan was to make some new pieces for the red court that looked period, not just like slapped together wood. I had plans for the undercarriage of the stage. I wanted 2006 to go off smoothly, because I knew that I didn't have the voice to be Baron much longer, I really didn't have the voice to be baron before. I had lost my voice the second day of faire from all the speaking and the dust. I really wanted this year to be perfect and I was willing to work very hard to make that happen.

The two people at the meeting with me were not as enthousiastic about the upcoming season. Andrew had a dream of making a group called Fools and Asassins, a comic troupe of clowns and straight men. He wanted to pursue it. He was determined.

more to come...
