Well I did it.
Today marks my official completion of one year without eating meat. It was actually probably a few weeks ago, but I couldn't remember when I started so I picked April 1st.
It was a fun experience and something that I had been wanting to do for some time now. It improved my overall eating habits and forced me to eat a very balanced diet.
I did not get overly weak during this aside from maybe the first few weeks.
I didn't really get meat cravings until this last month or so.
I came to realize that there is animal product in almost everything. From marshmallows, candy and toothpaste, to just about every soup out there.
On the plus side, I now enjoy brussel sprouts and asparagus and a new found appreciation for most things organic. Oh and thank God for Indian Food.
Going forward, I haven't totally decided how I am going to proceed. I thought of trying a year as a vegan, but as tolerant as my wife is, she told me I was on my own for that one. I thought of continuing as a vegetarian. And I have thought of being a pescatarian. I am leaning toward the latter, but have not committed to any.
