One more rally has passed. This one being Gotham II. This makes 4 for the year.
I was starting to really look forward to this rally, and parts of it were pretty good.
Thursday night was fun, if not too brief for us. I took the truck down since I hadn't put my bike back together yet. It was a nice meet and greet, but Bar Veloce is not really built for that crowd. The hospitality was great though. They just kept bringing out food for us. I do wish I could have done the Central Park ride though.
Friday night was my favorite night. Of the 3 bars we went to, 11th st bar was clearly the best. I like the raven, but it was way to small. Oh well.
Saturdays city ride was a lot of fun, but I heard a lot of criticism from the out of towners. The red light running, and lane splitting was a bit much for many of them especially when they were told the ride would not be doing so. Lots of people approached me about it because I am a familiar face from the other rallies.
The BBQ site was just terrible. The view was the only positive thing that site. The food was cold, and there was only one keg (but thank you porter for buying my first beer). The reflective material the roof was made of, and the lack of shade made most of the ordeal miserable. We finally cut out to Tim and Claudia's for a few drinks with the Demons.
Saturday night, was ok to poor. Sharon and I got sick from something we ate. I only had a few drinks that night. I did check out both bands at least briefly, which were ok I guess. We made Godfrey a Demon, and we recognize Matt & Mary Clancey as new members.
Sunday raffle was ok. Nothing terribly exciting. I did get pelted with a bag of coffee in the face, but I did deserve it. I love heckling the raffle. We skipped the Coney Island ride, even though I love Coney Island. We rode home which took over an hour with traffic on the west side. Then back to motorcity, which was way fun. God I miss cheeseball.
So basically it was an ok rally. Probably ranks near the bottom in terms of memorable rallies.
Next up....NIAGARA. One of my favorites every year. And one of my best friends from Denver (J-Rock) will be there this year.
