Corey and I left the baby at home with Grandma and decided it would be a nice evening to take a scooter ride down on Riverside drive.
Things were going great until (according to Chelsea: the rear wheel cotter pin sheered and dropped the rear end engine and all on the asphault) I heard a funny noise, thought the engine was seizing and grabbed the brake and the clutch. The rear end jumped up and sent us sideways and then we flipped over my skid. I remember going down and seeing Corey fly off in front of me and into the shoulder of the road.
We picked ourselves off the ground and came to the conclusion that we were in no immediate 911 calling emergencies. Cut and scaped and plenty bruised and feeling woozy on an adrenaline high, we sat in the grass and called Chelsea. No answer. So we called Anthony and he and Audrey came and picked us up and took us home. My right elbow was pretty scraped up but Corey's elbow was swollen and hard to move, so I drove us to the emergency room.
She has a fractured elbow and will either need a cast or surgery or possibly both. We'll find out tomorrow.
Chelsea went and picked up my bike (and rear tire which had come completely off) from the side of the road and confirmed that it was safe at her shop.
I'm just glad that there weren't any other vehicles involved and that neither us of was more seriously injured. Everybody be careful out there. Ride and drive safe. And super thanks to Anthony, Audrey, Chelsea, (whoever Chelsea had help her load the bike), Corey's mom, all the super friendly people in the emergency room and the scooter gods for looking out for us.
Time to get some sleep.
