My last entry (link not provided, 'cause I'm just such a brat it's filtered) mentioned Pangaea, which, in addition to being a big, mushy conglomeration of all the continents, happens to be
a darn good offering from Dogfish Head that
ratravarman turned us onto last night at the trivia contest at Frisco. Boy, that was a smooth, smooth brew.
Speaking of which, we scored second last night at Geek Combat, with a full crew in place:
ratravarman,
muzikmaker21,
cnvarbiter and son, der Mütant, and myself - six
Trousers, all of whom were profoundly
Wrong. The Mutie outclevered himself on the very first question, when he put down four answers for a Japanese mythology question(!), all of which he claimed were right, thanks to his research for Asian Bestiary. Turned out none of them were, and that was the margin of loss at the end, so expect him to come to the next game with a bunch of reference texts to back himself up; it's a matter of geek pride, now.
Final question was one that we went for broke on, based on my agonized guesswork, and the answer launched us into second (smug, smug). Put these sports teams in order, from most championships won to the least: Montréal Canadiens, Boston Celtics, New York Yankees.
