This cold really needs to go the hell away. Drank an entire quart of iced tea during stumblethrough for Wayward Saints last night; it's the only thing getting me through these rehearsals. It really does look like I'm slugging down bourbon, I suppose, which I must admit has come to mind. It couldn't make my performance worse, given, besides the obvious, that I don't have my glasses and the practice mask I'm wearing has very small eyeholes, which frequently come misaligned during the rehearsal, so at best I can only see poorly, and often I'm performing completely blind. I've stepped on people's feet, inadvertantly downstaged others, and last night addressed a line stage right to
prof20336 when she was standing to my left. OTOH, one of the times I was blind (and left-handed!) last night was during the sword/slapstick fight with Capitano and I managed to get through it without harming anybody (though I did have to grope for his dropped sword to hand it back to him afterwards). Went home, crashed almost immediately, woke at 0230 wheezing and coughing my head off, and didn't get back to sleep until 4.
So I'm tired and cranky today, not to mention my throat is sore from last night and I'm feeling vaguely achy. I can't shake the feeling that I'm screwing everything up lately - the rehearsals, work*, the Green Party (everything started late last night due to thunderstorms in the area, so the rehearsal ran until after 2300 and I missed the Steering Committee call entirely), even the family. The house is in dreadful shape and needs a serious, serious cleaning and a dozen different repairs, principly the air conditioning (though the kids' room is cool, thanks to
john_tangent's loan of his window air conditioner). There are people I would like to or need to see, and that's not happening either, it seems.
* I'll admit it's difficult to take this job seriously at times. Two of the senior managers and the sales guy just walked in (at about 1430) in their golf outfits down to the Callaway caps, and my own manager just walked out for the day after leaving at 1600 yesterday, 1545 last Thursday, and being out all day on Friday (together with most of the managers).
