In the blink of your eye..
Yesterday was a crazy and stressful day. I got to work around 7:45a.m. At 8:30 my brother calls and as soon as I see his name on my phone I got a horrible feeling. I answer and he tells me that our Dad has been in a bad car accident. He didn't have any more details except that they took him to Athens Regional hospital. So, I immediately leave work not knowing what the hell is going on. I don't even know what my dad's injuries are or if he is even still alive and I'm going to be the first family member up there!! I was freaking out. I called my friend David and told him what was going on and he said he was on his way. (I'm lucky to have such a damn good friend) Well, I was 5 mins from the hospital and my oldest brother calls me and tells me that he just got there and that my dad was going to be fine. He had severe whiplash and he was complaining about back pain. He had no internal injuries. Talk about a relief. I will say that he was a lucky man. He was waiting to turn left off of a 2 lane road. A woman in one of the bigger SUVs came hauling ass and never once hit the breaks. She hit my dad in the rear and it sent him 200ft across the road and through the woods. The initial hit knocked my dad into the backseat of the car. It broke the drivers seat. He didn't have his seatbelt on but the paramedic said he would prolly be dead if he would have. It could have broken his neck. He got to go home late yesterday and is just really, really sore. But it could have been so much worse. In the blink of your eye anyone you love could be gone. Love who you love with all your might...
