I am immensly thrilled to be getting my first publication this year

Firstly, congratulations! I'd love to get into writing comics, but my art skills suck. I do have a graphic-esque type novel that I need illustrated though, so maybe that's my way into the industry! Well done though - post links when it's published?

Secondly, yes - X Phile and comic geek = made of win. And I love Charles Adlard and Stefan Petrucha.

I will be definitely be yoinking these icons, and crediting =)

I can imagine you are - it's great news. Shall look forward to reading it when it's out =)

I've got two novels that need illustrating. One's a sci fi one that I've been working on - on and off anyway - for the last few years, the other about a girl who kills herself because of her ex and ends up haunting him in the afterlife. That one I'm finding harder to write because it's almost a bit too autobiographical, but I think it'd lend itself to a graphic novel quite well.

too autobiographical... i don't know, man. have you ever haunted anyone? *g*

aw, i wish you guys could check out my stuff when it's ready. but it's a pretty local thing i'm afraid, and of course not in english. (there was a contest, and my story got into an anthology about an important wwii event in our capital, a rising - a very emotional thing here, also for young people like me. all the other stories that won are by professionals - and guys, lol - so i am even more happy.)

*g* That is true, though there's still time for me to haunt someone I'm sure!

I'd love to check out your stuff too, but given as I'm not great with languages other than English, Welsh and French it'd be pretty hard too =( What country are you based in?

Still, really well done on getting into the anthology, especially with such stiff competition - that's something to be really proud of =)

wooo! you speak cymraeg? daymn, i sure would love to learn a celtic lg someday. although i was thinking irish, but who isn't these days.

i'm in poland! so that might definitely be a bit tough for you, lol. but of course when i post about the publication (prolly in a couple months, because something tells me they're gonna be issuing it on the rising's anniversary, which is in august), i will show my pages with a translation. so it's all good! and yes i am insanely proud, so thanks a lot for the interest! :]

Ydw, dwi'n siarad Cymraeg, ond dwi'n ddim yn rheugol. I speak it, but I'm not fluent =) Hoping to be one day though. Irish Gaelic is a lovely language, though I'm always going to be a bit more biased towards Welsh!

Funnily enough I did wonder if you were in Poland. It'd be great if you can post about the publication and put in a translation of your pages. I'll definitely look out for that =)

I am Welsh, yes. I'm from the Valleys - about 25 miles north of Cardiff, where the majority of coal mining took place before the mines shut.

I'll definitely be staying tuned =D

awesome. i always wished i was a member of a linguistic minority (and by minority i don't mean to offend or misname, of course minorities are actually majorities in some regions;) 'cause that way i'd be bilingual and awesome without effort. :D we have a couple of cool language minorities here, too bad i was born into a mostly standard lg variant family and can only speak the old-school capital dialect a bit. ;)

No offence taken at all =D There aren't a lot of people in Wales who are fluent in Welsh. I just wish I was better at it (or was brought up bilingual because that'd be much easier than trying to learn it in my 20s!). I know a few Polish people and I think they speak standard Polish (?) but I'm not sure - sorry for the ignorance!

heh, don't be sorry! they probably are speaking standard polish, and if they aren't it's prolly not really noticeable - in the sense that the differences between the variants of polish are pretty small. we can all understand each other pretty easily... all major cities and their regions have their own vocabulary and pronounication, and usually a native speaker is able to tell what city his interlocutor is from, but as i said, those are pretty minor differences, especially if you're talking to young people.
apart from that, we have local minority slavic languages that are recognized by most as languages different from polish, and that are the lgs i mentioned it'd be cool to speak.

Language is such a complex thing isn't it, and so interesting! We have different dialects in Welsh - north Welsh is very different to south Welsh, though you'd still be able to understand what someone's saying, so I guess that's similar to the different dialects existing in Polish.

It would be so cool to be able to speak more languages though.
