Just went to see Twilight with Bethan. It was unbelievably shit. Pretty much Titanic but with vampires instead of icebergs. Or The Notebook with vampires instead of, uh, chemistry. Somehow they managed to make vampires about as sexy or as scary or as interesting as a fucking golden onion. And Bella is such a Mary Sue...

cool, so that's a no to twilight and a yes to inkheart then. i'm glad that's all sorted out now ^_^

i need to see Inkheart just because it's got LOADS of actors i love in it ^_^ was watching King Kong last night, but i only got about halfway through before i needed to go to bed...

Having read the first 20 pages or so of one of the books I was fairly certain the movie was going to be appalling. As such I rather liked it. Yes it was terribly soppy, but their unexpected and inexplicable eternal love was no less unbelievable than Romeo and Juliet and everyone lets Shakespeare get away with that and I've felt that way myself about persons practically unknown so I can't exactly call it a plot flaw. I thought there was a lot of good stuff in the film - the relationship with the father, the visual style of the film (aside from the dodgy cgi on the vampire's movements), the native indian stuff, I really liked the way the final battle sequence was shot. And vampire films are kind of supposed to be hokey - vampires are a teenage girls wet dream, they are intrinsically over blown and reminiscent of every adults embarrassing teenage Anne Rice phase. The teenagers sitting next to me were in paroxysms of hormonal adoration through the whole thing. I nearly had to ice them down.

I am assurred that no, the books are worse. Like, significantly worse. Personally, I am just hiding from the whole thing, heh.

I totally want to see Inkheart for the Bettany, omg. Even if the previews did look a bit bad, if he's in it a lot then I am going to see it!
