Buffy/Jayne AU: Part 2

Apr 07, 2006 19:20

To be perfectly honest, Buffy hadn’t slept as well as she had been in years, possibly since before she knew of her calling. For whatever reason, ever since she’d landed face-down on the deck of the ship she’d known only as Serenity (but she now knew was a Firefly-class cargo ship often loaded with whatever hot items the captain and his crew of shifty, but beautiful misfits), she’d been sleeping well, training harder (though for nothing) and smiling a lot more. In the six months she’d been on the ship, she’d become a whole and complete person, and fallen totally in love with Jayne Cobb, the Hero of Canton. She knew most everything about his life, and he’d been so patient about telling her everything for what was the second time for him.

Now, she lay in bed with Jayne, not entirely asleep but also not awake. She was in a very in-between place, feeling Jayne's chest rise and fall with steady rhythm, her arms wrapped around him, face pressed to his chest. She was smitten, and it was gross. But at least Zoe had a secret soft spot for the gushing that she was prone to. And Wash was fascinated by it. Simon constantly looked sickened, though.

She heard the voices of Zoe and Wash walking by and stirred, stretching her arms out.
