The negative and disgusting arguing amongst the partisans has come to a head and is about to burst open all over the American people. Freedom of speech has been used and abused, and it is only getting worse.
I watched the "Rally to Restore Sanity". It was amazingly non-partisan and very funny, well until the very end. Jon Stewart said what I want everyone to see...cable news and talk radio are like a disease. It infects people with misinformation, other people's opinions, and worst of all, hate. It eats away at people's thinking skills and leaves them non-responsive while tyrants and corporations take over. Of course, the right laughed off the rally and the left repeat "we are not as bad as they are" over and over, so both sides missed the point.
It does not matter what side of the debate you are on...yelling and name calling has never solved anything in this country. But this is all there is and it is disturbing to those of us in the center because, even though there are more of us than them, our political structure is set up so that our leaders are never in the center.
This discussion is brought you by Limbaugh's latest racist screaming and the response from Sharpton that the FCC should stop him. The problem is....people do not want to stop him. There are too many drones out there that think every word that comes out of his mouth is gospel and that Rush is their lord and savior reborn. And the fact is that he has broken no laws and therefore nothing will ever happen to stop him. Apparently, even saying things overtly racist is not enough to get you fired anymore. I bet Don Imus wishes he was on radio still (well, he is on Sirus radio but that doesn't count).
Anyway, that is all I have to say about this right now...except that the next time you come across someone that disagrees with you, I hope you turn the other cheek and walk away instead of fighting. Or better yet, have a civil discussion about what you both think and agree to disagree. Because, I have to say that I, for one, am tired of watching the fighting. It is exhausting and futile. Nothing gets accomplished and sometimes people even get hurt. I hope everyone who reads this takes what I am saying into consideration before screaming at their neighbors and/or family members.
