So yeah, I think everyone should really take some time to reflect on their lives, and think of things that they are thankful for. Sucks that we only think to do this on thanksgiving, but there's no better time than right now. As Cowboy Mouth once told me (in a song)
It's easy to bitch, easy to whine, easy to moan, easy to cry, easy to feel like there ain't nothing in your life. It's harder to work, harder to strive, hard to be glad to be alive, but it's really worth it...if you give it a try.
I'm the most guilty person for this, but so often we tend to look at the glass as half empty instead of half full. It's so easy to only look at the bad things in life, but there is so much to be happy about.
So here's 10 things I'm thankful for.
1) I'm thankful that I'm surviving well on my own. I don't have to depend on other people to pay my bills, nuture me, or baby me along the way.
2) I'm thankful for the college sports that I have so much of a passion for, that provide so much happiness for me. LSU and UW both have amazing sports programs, from football at both, hockey at UW, and Baseball at LSU, all the way down to women's volleyball at both schools...GEAUX TIGERS AND BADGERS!!
3) As much as it makes me sick to think about it, I'm happy for Tigeru.com for providing me with a group of friends that I never had before I found tigeru. Amy, Adam, Chris, and everyone else have been there for me for the last year, and it's great to know I have friends I can count on when I need them. Oh yeah..and I beat the fucking high score on PEPSI FN PINBALL.
4) I'm thankful for my job. As I've said, sometimes it's not the most glamourous thing. But hopefully it's a step on the way to something better. Sucks that I have to rely on a major f'n hurricane from time to time to make some money, but thats just how it works.
5) I'm thankful for the places I've been in my life. I've been in Lake Superior to the north, Cocodrie Louisiana to the south, Los Angeles to the west and New York City to the east. Now if only I stopped to appreciate it a little more. As I watch preperation for the Macy*s Thanksgiving Parade, it's wild to think that it's been 9 years since I've been in it. Time flies when you are getting old
6) I'm thankful for the musicians that I love so much, that make my life so much easier to handle. Cowboy Mouth, Weezer, Cake, Yellowcard, Green Day, Garth Brooks and anyone else that creates the music that is a rhythm in my heart, thank you.
7) I'm thankful that I realize that the breakup of Jessica Skankson and Nick LaDumbass isn't fucking news, although I've heard it on the news at least 7 times this morning.
8) I'm thankful that I'm getting off my ass and getting back into school. I only wish that I had sooner realized that I could take 4 classes at BRCC for the price of 1 at the University of Phoenix, but we all make mistakes, and hopefully I'll make the best of it at BRCC.
9) I'm thankful for my friends. I know i'm not the easiest guy to deal with from time to time, but people have stuck with me and picked me up when I needed it. Bethany, Emily, and Danielle, who invited me over for turkey dinner, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR ME. I can never repay you for all you've done for me.
10) It's weird to hear this from me, but dammit, I'm thankful to be alive! All I ever do is bitch bitch bitch, and I bitch about my back hurting, my foot hurting, my feelings hurting, and bitch bitch bitch. It could be alot worse, and through the struggles of Hurricane Kuntrina, we should all be thankful to live here. It could be worse, we could be innocent civilians in Iraq being bombed by W.
