I got back from soth Cali last night. Wow, I had so much fun. I already miss Ameryn and her family and the awesome people I met. OK, so start at the beginning.
Mom dropped me off at the airport and I had plenty of time b4 my plane left. Over two hours. Well, it took so freakin long to check my bags, that I got to the security line and I only had twenty mins b4 my plane was to leave! I was freakin out, wondering wjhat to do if I missed my flight. I got thru security quick, except they decided to pick me to do their random search. I had five mins b4 the plane left. So then I was running to my terminal, and I ended up being the last of two people on the plane. Wow, that was nerve wracking! But I made it. Had breakfast in LAX, caught my connecting flight, and I watched the sunrise in the air. Ameryn and her youngest bro Solomon were at the airport to pick me up. SO the last time I saw Solomon he was like 11 or 12. Now he's 16, and he's taller than me! By a couple inches, too! Wow...
In all, during my week, I met a ton of awesome people, from Ameryn's church and her high school, and her college roomates. We painted ceramics at this place called Art Attack. That was fun, and my butterfly actually turned out cool! Friday night we went ice skating. That was awesome! I've never been b4, and luckily neither had a bunch of other people, so we learned together. I only fell twice, and lucky for me, the first time Solomon was right there so he helped me up, and the second time Mitch, Ameryn's other little bro who's 17...well 18 tomorrow...helped me up. I have a few bruises, but not too bad. And my knee held up, I think it was good for it. There was a New Year's Eve party/service at Ameryn's church...which speaks spanish. I was very proud of myself, cuz I understood almost all of it. I knew enough to understand what they were syaing, and if I didn't get something, Mitch, who sat next to me, translated for me. Their church is amazing, and reminded me so much of mine. It was cool. And everyone that Ameryn introduced me to was like, "Oh! I've heard so much about you!" I also forgot that hispanics kiss when they meet and say goodbye...everyone does that, guys and girls. Was a little weird at first, kissing everyone, lol but I got used to it after awhile. It was so cool being exposed to that culture again. And wow, the food...that was amazing. lol
Kyle, Ameryn's older bro, who's 20, took us to see Chronicles of Narnia. That was a good movie. Maria, Ameryn's mom, went to a retreat for three days, so the five of us were on our own, so we found things to amuse ourselves. One night Amin went to bed early, so I was reading, Kyle was on the comp, Solomon was practicing his guitar, and Mitch was trying to convince me to bake him cookies. I finally gave in, and said only if he helped. Haha that was entertaining. He had never baked b4, so I had to teach him. Was a lot of fun, tho. B4 they moved down south, Amin's bros never talked to me, so while we were baking and all I got to know Mitch better. He;s awesome. And he's thinking about going to school at Chico State in the fall, so he said we'll hafta hang out. It's funny cuz b4 they moved, he was friends with Corbin and Anthony and Tomas. lol Weird, what a small world.
One of the rainy days, while Maria was still gone, we were bored, so Amin started on my portait. She's doing an oil portrait of me, and even tho I currently have no eyes, it looks awesome! SO I sat for her for a few hours. She's finishing it up this week, then when it dries in a week or so, she'll send it to me. I'll post a pic when I get it. I took Amin driving, since she only has her permit. I now understand the nerves that a parent has when teaching their kid to drive. I learned it's not about being a good or bad driver, but just the fact that they're inexperienced. And the fact that Mitch entrusted his car to me, so I didn't want anything to happen. I gave her some pointers for the test and all. And since she got her permit after she turned 18, she only needed a licensed CA driver in the car 18 or older, instead of 25 or older, so I could ACTUALLY take her driving, legally. lol We hung out one day with her friends from hs that she hadn't seen since grad. It was cool meeting them, but a little werid, too, since they had "heard so much about me." lol
Yesterday morning, I drove Amin, Solomon, and I up to the mountains since it had snowed there. That was an awesome road to drive! SO much fun...it was all switchbacks going up. I love those kind of roads, but also I'm used to them since I live on a road similar to that kind of thing. SO we played in the snow a bit, took lots of pics, Solomon got us both with snowballs, lol then we headed back down the mountain. While dinner was cooking, I finished pakcing my stuff, then Maria called me outsied. She had written a song after she saw me in the hospital 2 1/2 years ago, and she wanted to sing it for me. While she was singing I started crying. It was awesome. I'll have to post the lyrics. She even recorded it for me, since they have equipment at their church. So I have a CD of the song. It was so...I don't know, words can't describe. So after we finished crying, lol we ate dinner, then I had to say goodbye to everyone. That was hard! I hugged Solomon and Kyle, loaded my stuff into the car, and Mitch still wasn't home from work. SO Sol called him on his cell and I said goodbye over the phone. That was sad, I didn't get to give him a hug. It was so cute, too, cuz he was like, "You're leaving NOW?! But I'm on my way home! I don't get to say goodbye!! This sucks..." lol But we agreed to kepp in touch, and when he comes to CHico we'll hang out.
Maria and Amin drove me to the airport in Ontario, and it was so nice compared to Sac. Like no lines! No waiting! So I went right through check in and security. Had a short layover in LAX again, grabbed some coffee at Starbucks since I would have to be driving home when my mom picked me up. Got into Sac at 9:30 last night, grabbed my bags, and got home last night at like midnight.
Sucked this morning cuz I had to get up to go to a doc's appointment for my knee. But oh well. Good news, I didn't have to get a steroid injection. Bad news, I have to go to a month of physical therapy, 3x a week. Grr...oh well. I told Doc Brazil that I had gone ice skating Friday, and that my knee didn't hurt one bit. He was glad that I had such good results on recovery. What an awesome doc. I want to be like him when I grow up! lol
Oh, and I have exciting news!! I PASSED ANATOMY!!!!! I was so worried about that. I pulled my grade up from and F to a C the last two weeks of class. Thank You God!! How amazing is that.
Well I have unpacking to do. I will post pics from my trip soon. I took lots. lol We're leaving on Sunday for Mazatlan, so I will get to get a tan. I;'m excited to go down there. And after spending a week with AMin and them, I practiced my spanish, and am totally ready fot the trip. lol
