This whole break has been great. I should've updated at least once before this - it would've helped to alleviate the extreme length of this entry...
On the 23rd, I went to the mall with Erica and her family. There, I walked around for a couple of hours. I bought my brother that Led Zeppelin DVD that he's been bugging me about and I paid off my debt to Mark by getting him a cookie. I also helped pick out Erica's present for Jill... it was my idea to go into that store in the first place, by the way!
Christmas was fun! Thirteen adults and twelve kids crammed into my grandparents' house to eat dinner, give gifts, play games, and enjoy the company. It was chaotic, but I had a great time and came out with some great new stuff. This includes the Rush in Rio CDs, which Jill would never let me borrow; the wireless keyboard and mouse; and the Xbox 360 controller I got from Erica (by some bizarre coincidence, my aunt got me a charge kit for it). I got several things I didn't ask for; for example, a TI-89 graphing calculator (well, I have needed one for a year and a half) and a T-shirt that says "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US" (my dad is a self-proclaimed L33t H4x0r). My grandfather bought me World of Warcraft, but my computer doesn't have the proper specifications to run it. Perhaps that's for the better...
The next day I went to see a movie (The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) with Erica. It was awesome. I thought it was too drawn out in some places, though. Then we went out to eat at that new place at the Colonnade, the name of which I cannot recall. The food was great, but since this entry is already too long, I will not go into detail. I finally gave Erica her Christmas present (a pretty necklace in a music box - shiny, sparkly, and somewhat musical). As far as I can tell, she really liked it. :)
After that, we packed up, drove to Atlanta, and flew to Norfolk, courtesy of my dad's frequent-flyer miles. The baggage claim in Norfolk was screwed up, so all the Delta people were going back and forth between three baggage carousels because of malfunctions. We waited an hour for our bags! Our destination was my other grandparents' house in Virginia Beach. Our family had an awesome time there. Most of the time we were playing Yahtzee, Riff, or Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture 2 DVD or going to restaurants. We left on the 31st.
Our family new year's party was great. We played charades, and my cousin Mary Beth and I made all the cards. They were all movies, TV shows, and books. It took forever to guess Jerry Springer by my grandfather's interpretation, and young Julia and Caroline didn't know any what any of the cards were talking about. Someone guessed The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe right when my dad had to hold up ten fingers followed by one extra. We watched the ball drop in Eastern time and then shot off some crackers, which scared Caroline. The new year's party resulted in a huge stock of leftover tempura stuff which my mom has cooked, little by little, over the past several days. She's a terrific cook when she wants to be.
2005 was a great year. Ever since, I haven't being doing much. We took down the Christmas dècor today, and the house is back to its usual boringness. Tomorrow, school restarts... at least that will give me something to do.
