Visual SRR

Originally Submitted February 28, 2011: A visual representation of concepts on the readings for this week (Difference II).

I had some mixed feelings about the visual SRR assignment. For the most part, I was excited to do something different, but I was also somewhat anxious because I sometimes think I'm not very good at expressing things through images rather than words. I definitely can't draw. On the other hand, I really enjoy putting together what might loosely be described as collages. I've spent way too much time backing images with construction paper to decorate my office. For this assignment, I considered doing something digital, but decided on a physical version largely because of this love of cutting and pasting, not to mention the stack of construction paper already sitting in a drawer in my office. At first, I had trouble thinking of a concept that would allow me to cover all of the readings within a single visual representation. The first idea that came to me was the image of the lottery ticket. That gave me the idea to take one powerful or salient image from each reading for a collage. However, what really made it come together was using the frame of the TV to represent the reading on visual composition.

Just for fun, the line "antimatter for the masterplan" that I included on the interior (because I felt like it spoke to the idea of why the study of difference should be included) is from the introduction to "Na Na Na" by My Chemical Romance.
