I think the more I watch CNN, the more I lose respect for it. This morning I turned on the TVand found myself bombarded with one of their top stories: Hillary's Lowering Neck Line. Yes, someone actually researched and put together a story and a headline for the Presidential candidate showing a hint of clevage. If it had been a fleeting comment I could have understood it, but they actually did a full story, longer then the Wendy's suit, John Lennon glass auction, senator's house search, and a police chase story combined. It was topped only by P.Diddy's YouTube search for an assistant. She's a politician not a nun people. Its not like she jumped up and did a flash dance or anything.
As far as my life goes, I spent most of last week, excluding time at work, over at Lauren's house helping her prepare for her Mardi Gras mystery dinner party. We cut and painted and taped until a descent chunk of her house into a mardi gras wonderland. The party was Sunday, and I think very successful. The way it works is that everyone is assigned a characted somehow connected to the mystery. They dress up like them and then proceed to act in their best capacity as that particular person. Everyone gets a book, with information about themselves and the mystery, listed under either share with the group or keep to yourself. The share with the group stuff is things you slip into conversation to give clues. The things you're supposed to hide, you try not to have to come clean about, but if you are asked a direct question then you have to answer it truthfully. It was pretty cool, and I won at the end which is always a plus. Sadly it was the lawyer. He just had too much information about why everyone else did it. It was the kind of information one would expect a person that had thought the whole plan out would have known. I also won best costume thank you very much. I was a pretty crazy looking fortune tellar.
Outside of that... I met up with Brad finally. We went and saw I Know Who Killed Me which was rather great in the way that it was possibly the worst movie made this year. I'm pretty surprised the world didn't explode with two skanky Lindsay Lohans. The story with Brad is that I met him at Cassidy's graduation party, and we became descent friends talking to one another there and then a little bit after and even though he lives in Pearland, our schedules never really combined to hang out again. So it was good to see him.
Other then those things, my life has been pretty uneventful. I finally finished Harry Potter and wasn't too impressed. I found myself scanning quite a bit, skipping over the parts I didn't find interesting, and not really making any sense of those that I did read because its been several books and several years since JK Rowling deemed it necessary to explain the majority of the wizardly tools and tricks used by Potter and his entourage. And yet one would think that would make me want to stop reading and read the others, yet, my interest has caved to the point where I just don't care anymore and all I wanted to do was finish the series.
Now i'm moving on to reading The First Among Sequels, something i've been looking forward to, and working on finishing up some academy things, starting to think about getting everythign together. I go back to school in a little over three weeks now, and it seems little too close for comfort since I have had such a good summer. It'll be sad to see everyone go back to their individual lives when we have all been such a tight group these last couple of months.
