I volunteered to take the Reynolds kids while we aren't having school in a school building. Meagan is doing college online and needs some time without people and I thought it was a way to keep busy myself and get a good feeling for how it would go. The good thing is that I've had Maddy and now William in my classroom. We have established a student/teacher relationship, which makes it much easier. Trying to do stuff with my girlfriends, Nat and Biff makes me realize that I don't want to be a preschool teacher! Ha! They are pretty independent, so when I need to help William and Maddy, they'll go play with the dogs or get into stuff. I started posting daily updates on Facebook, but wanted to preserve them here.
Day 1
Noodle, you suck at sharpening pencils!
Day 1: The routine is they pickup their combo breakfast/lunch and head over. When they get here around 9:30 we have breakfast then get to work. Maddy and William had assigned work from their teachers and I had run off stuff for the girlfriends. At the end of the day, I couldn't figure out why my dogs were all flat. Apparently running around for PE inside and just having people over wiped them out. Noodle sucks at sharpening pencils!
PE
Day 2: Beckit couldn't decide if she liked Maddy's story of Blood River or William's story Charlotte's Web. We tried PE outside, which was an actual assignment of bouncing balls with some added Border Collies. It encouraged good ball bouncing skills, because if you dropped your ball, you were bound to loose it!
Um Schmeckit, it's hard for Will to see.
Hmmmm... There are some pictures.
Maddy has a Beckit in her eye!
I think Beckit is looking for the pictures.
Biff was no where around. Ha!
Day 3: Nat and Biff we're trying to put Noodle in an xpen. They lifted it up, which is how I usually put him in for meals, and he wouldn't go. Pretty soon the xpen was on it's side, then the next time I looked it had a Nat, Noodle and Beckit in it. It's never boring at Nana's school.
We made it!
Day 4: We took a two mile walk on the Weiser River Trail. it was a great way to end our first week. Bonus was that Beep made it the whole way! On the way back, Maddy asked William why he has to look so dramatic! That cracked me up!
Day 5: It's all fun and games at recess at Nana's school until two kids decided to roll in cow poop. No, one of them wasn't William. Girlfriends, Will and I practiced our measuring skills making snickerdoodles while Maddy finished up her work.
Ew! Poop!
Snickerdoodles!
Day 6: Noodle and Rooster got into it, so Nana school included cleaning and stapling a hole up in the Noodle. William also caught a mouse in a trap! Ew!
Clipping
Dabbing
Flushing
Ew! Mouse!
Selfie!
Day 7: The low growing whomping willow devoured one of Nat's shoes. For whatever reason her and Noodle when careening down the middle of it and she lost a shoe. All five us spent a half an hour looking for it. Seven days of Nana school and two pairs of shoes gone. Beckit chewed up a pair of Maddy's .
Day 8: William found Nat's shoe in the low growing whomping willow! Poppet was sniffing around there, so William went and looked and found it. Ended our second week by walking out back. The kids tried to help Noodle catch a rock chuck in the log deck. No luck. Ha!
Yes! It's found!
Stock sticks make good walking sticks.
Kids and dogs, dogs and kids. Beep was out there, just no picture.
Never a dull moment at Nana's School.
