I didn't think the Devil would take that much interest in the creation of a blog.

I know not everyone believes in that kind of thing, but I gotta tell you guys, from the moment I decided that I was going to start a real and actual proper blog, I have had no end of those little, annoying distractions that, individually, aren't that much, but add up like mosquitos on a muggy night.  Which generally ends with me retreating indoors, after which I take a shower, load myself up with Benadryl, and ask myself what, in the name of skin care, I thought I was doing.

'Cause first there was Quarter End, which I knew about, and accepted that I should wait until it was over.  But then it was over and work said they wanted to move me home.  That was discombobulating, and would have been if I hadn't had to spend $300+ to set up an office.  Then in August, I had a bunch of things that Needed Doing, among them getting a replacement title for my car (partially my own fault), changing my car insurance policy, and asking Monica if she would mentor me.  My new small group at church started, followed by choir.  Not to mention the argument Amy and I had a few weeks back.  All through this, one of my clients at work has been hounding us about things that a) should have been fixed before I even got their database, and b) I don't know much about and have been having trouble finding who does.

Last week, I decided that I was going to go ahead and start the dang thing.  I dedicated Labor Day to the endeavor.  I found a reputable domain registrar and another reputable webhost, shelled out the money, and got to work.

Yesterday, our microwave broke.

Seriously.  Amy's ancient microwave was getting unreliable, so I said we could swap it out for my old college one, which my parents had kept.  It worked the first few times, then started making a loud rattling noise and smelling funny, which according to what I could find online, means it's the magnetron, and that I shouldn't try to fix it.  And, of course, Amy is in no position to buy a new one.  And in spite of doing my research online, I ended up driving a good deal further than I expected just to find one that a) didn't cost more than $70 and b) didn't look liable to explode on a bad day.

(On the bright side, we have a new -- bigger, more powerful -- microwave.)

Throw on top of that all the perfectly natural emotions that would go along with creating one's own blog for the first time...  Monica couldn't meet with me this week, and I just realized this morning that I'd told Robin we could go for lunch of Friday, and that on Monday I'd told my mom the same thing...

::headdesk::

But enough of that.  My blog exists, and while it is very much a work in progress (so far the only content is half a dozen old essays), I would very much appreciate it if you guys had a look.  Any feedback, suggestions, stuff to add, changes I should make?
