Madeleine L'Engle has died. Meaning we just lost an amazing and unique voice in the realm of literature. Though I never agreed with her philosophy, I have always had a deep respect for the way she saw the world. She's one of the few Christian writers (alongside Tolkien and Lewis) who firmly believed that fantasy and sci-fi were complements of her faith. Her books had such a poetry to them, made even more profound by the really mind-bending scientific and philosophical ideas in them. There aren't a whole lot of writers in the world who could so easily grab onto imagination and just go with it.
In other news, a cold front came in last night, and now it is wonderful outside. Bright and sunny and breezy and just a shade cool. Jeff, Kim, Nicole, and Rachel and I went out to a nearby park (with a lake in it) for lunch. And I drove home with most of my windows open. I think I know why I love the change of seasons so much. I'm so grateful for when it happens that I find it this enormous stress-reliever.
Trudy and Mary have bailed out on tonight's Geek Night. Meaning it'll be just Amy and me. Wonder what we'll get up to...?
