This weekend was crazy amazing for hardly doing anything at all. So necessary after last week to get me through to the end of quarter--which is 11 days away!!! And today is my last monday of teaching because of memorial day. I have never been so excited about memorial day than I am this year--for that reason alone.
And so yeah, 11 days and I get to party with Missy. I'm hoping for fantastic weather & swimming possibly?? I don't even know if your pool is open. If all else fails we can go to my pool on Saturday and swim while my dad cooks on his new grill (he'll take any excuse).
Other things--I've officially been hired for the summer research grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Natural Areas Protection. Say that name 10 times fast. But this is really exciting, Matt and I just need to work out our schedules now so that I know what my summer is looking like. And then I can plan road trips!! For which I will want company--so any volunteers are more than welcome.
Okay, so back to this weekend. I learned to SALSA! And it was so much fun. Friday night Adam and I met my friend Tiffany @ "The Worst Bar in Columbus" (I'm not kidding...that's it's name). It's a latin bar and friday nights are Salsa Cozzy nights. So we get there 9:45 and get a free salsa lesson from Carlos--who is amazing. I'm not kidding when I say he is an international latin dance competitor, and he wins. And he also teaches 2 hour lessons once a week for $5. Yes....a grand total of 5.00. But I'll get back to that in a minute. So friday night, we have the fun little lesson--luckily for me Adam knew a little salsa beforehand, and then the people started pouring in and it was packed. And this is so much more fun than just regular club dancing. People were all excited when they found out that we were just learning and kept pulling us out onto the dance floor to teach us something or because "you'll never learn if you don't dance". Hours of fun.
And then on Saturday evening, Carlos taught one of those 2 hour salsa lessons so we decided to go, and learned a ton of new salsa combinations. It was great because there were enough people for 5 'couples' and we kept rotating partners, meaning the guys move around because salsa is "all about the lady, guys it's your job to make them look good..not that they need any help." Now we're addicted. So if anyone wants to go salsaing... :)
And the rest of the weekend involved Shrek 3 (it was okay--funny, but not as good), Buffy (because it's Adam), sleep, food, sleep, and playing with Ryan's puppy Buddy.
I think that's it. Go learn salsa!!
