The new layout is shiny & gorgeous!! I only have one question. I may just be blind, but so far, I have totally not been able to figure out how to get past Chapter 1 on multi-chapter fics. Clicking on a story takes me to Chapter 1, but I don't see any way to navigate beyond that to Chapter 2+

Thanks!

just checking in (this is sol) -- ergh, I thought I fixed that. Which story are you talking about? It might be an issue just with that story, since I tried to straighten up as much as I could before ducking out for a week for RL stuff.

*goes to check*

Oh, crap. That is NOT supposed to be broken! My apologies. Don't know what happened, but I'm too exhausted to mess with code right now, and tomorrow it's family stuff until probably 10pm CST... I'm really sorry to make you wait until then, if I can't figure it out tonight. I'll try my best, but if I can't get it tonight, it will definitely be tomorrow night -- but all the same, thank you for letting me know!

Again, my apologies, I thought I had all ducks lined up for proper shooting before taking off for graduation week. *dies*

Oh! It's not a problem! I'm mostly just exploring right now, and that was something I noticed (and it was on all the multi-chaptered stories I checked).

Whenever you get it fixed! Not a rush! I just love that you do this archive at all!

Oh, and I also adore the Author Rec bit! I am eagerly awaiting those!

Heh, it does seem to be something a lot of people (and fortunately, several authors) like -- also, chapters now fixed! Good thing it was a really simple thing (like accidentally putting an 's' in there when I'd mistyped while trying to do control+s to save, whoops).

I'm working on the author recs, but it'll probably be next week for that, and then a bit of testing, and then release it into the wild.

Thanks again for letting me know about the chapters breakage. I'd've hated to find out it'd been broken the whole time I was AFK. Fffftt.

Anyway, glad you like the site. A lot of work but it's worth it to know it's an improvement for readers.

So you're solitude 1056? I just had your "Contraries Arc" recc'd to me, and I'm really liking it! Not enough long, multi-chaptered action fics out there! :-) I'm hoping to discover a lot of "old" fics out there from the really early days of the fandom. I've found some, but I have to think there's some gems out there I've yet to discover (obviously, since I just found yours!)

Eheh, yes, that's me. *cough* There are multparts out there, actually, a fair number on Scimitar.

One option is to subscribe to the RSS feed -- that way, as I upload stories from old version to new version, you'll see each of them come down the pipe, and can check them out if they interest you. (Sometimes I've uploaded more than will fit on the front page, so you may not realize the addition if you just check the main page -- but the RSS feed sends out a feed for every single update.)

I've never quite understood how RSS feeds work... Does it post to my lj? send me emails? Sometimes I'm a bit behind the times... :-)

Well, it depends on what you're using -- Windows, Mac, Firefox. Best way to find out is to click on the "subscribe" option in the menu (well, whatever's on the very end of the menu bar, I think it's "subscribe") and you'll see a main option called "regular feed" and then an explanation about other variations depending on your preferences. Click on whichever one you want, and then see what happens. If your system is set up to get RSS, it'll walk you through the rest. Me, I'm on a Mac, so I get my RSS feeds through my email -- they show up in subfolders, one for each feed. I think Firefox will also do RSS feed readers, but the best place to start is by clicking and seeing how your system reacts. The majority of the time, your computer will tell you what happens next, or if you need to add an application to read the feeds, or what ( ... )

ehehe... I haven't actually 'done' the archives in several years, not with any real intensity. More like I just enable it, and all true credit must go to Mikkeneko -- it's her hard work (and far more amiable personality) that deserves all the credit for where the archives is, now.

Absolutely -- if you like what's on the site, all credit goes to her. She's done a lot of hard work and put in a lot of time to make sure what's there is quality and diverse and all that good stuff. I just try (I say, TRY, not necessarily SUCCEED) to make the site work on the coding end. ;D
