Littlegeek has been home this week and last. He is mostly just playing his new Star Wars Lego video game. I must say that it is abit sick, in a twisted and demented way. Like the lego "beachtroopers" wgo are wearing stormtrooper helmets and speedos. Or playing darth vader and being able to use the force to strangle other lego guys. Along with Darth's special ability I like the cranes that can pick up any lego guy and drop them into holes.
Littlegeek has gotten very touchy again. I think he is afraid of 2nd grade. Once of the 2nd graders, last year, was telling Littlgeek that it is really hard. At one point Littlgeek was in my arms crying over it. I assured him that he had his mom and dad and teachers to help him get through it.
me:" You know your dad and I have both been through second grade"
Littlegeek, still sobbing, "How did you ever make it through second grade?"
It was hard not to laugh.
But in the meantime he is must more volatile and quick to anger, quick to lose self-control. I think he is also anxious about the loss of playtime.
I am frantically finishing up my thesis project. At this point I feel like I am wasting my time, but it is almost done. I just have to finish this to get my masters. I keep trying to remember that. I found out that I may be able to get my pay increase for the beginning of the year instead of waiting. I just have to get the paperwork in by Aug 31st.
My classroom is coming along. I have been into my room atleast four times in the last few weeks working on it. It is coming along quite well. I am finally putting up posters, setting up bulletin boards, boookcases and such. I still have more cabinets and drawers to clean out but they can wait til later since the students won't be seeing them. There are ALOT of drawers and cabinets BUT I'm not sure that I trust the students enough to put much in those drawers and cabinets.
We are getting out new china cabinet today. It is actually a modified bookshelf, 7 foot tall by 10 foot long. I can't wait. We were not expecting it to be delivered for a few more weeks.
