Fanmix - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Picard/Crusher - The Substance of Things Hoped For

Aug 04, 2010 00:51

My recent post(s) on my top ten scifi ships has pushed me to finish off a Picard/Crusher mix I had sitting around. I will never understand why people ignore Beverly Crusher. I think she's the shit, and she's one of my favorite characters in all of Trekdom. She's smart, sassy, gorgeous, and she's just the perfect companion for Picard. This (very) loosely follows their knowing each other, and the last song reflects a future date. I imagine them walking through the vineyards and Picard thinking how beautiful she looks in the late-afternoon sun.

(As you can see when I put them side-by-side, I made the covers from one big picture. It is a wallpaper I got from Strukt Studios - they do some very cool stuff, go check it out at http://strukt.com)

Mr. Brightside - The Killers

Now I'm falling asleep,
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke,
And she's taking a drag.
Now they're going to bed,
And my stomach is sick,
And it's all in my head,
But she's touching his-chest.
Now, he takes off her dress.

I just can't look, it’s killing me.
But it's just the price I pay,
Destiny is calling me.

Comptine D'Un Autre Ete - Yann Tiersen

Instrumental.

The Scientist - Coldplay

Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry, you don’t know how lovely you are.
I had to find you, tell you I need you, tell you I set you apart.
Tell me your secrets, and nurse me your questions, let’s go back to the start
Runnin’ in circles, coming up tails, heads on a science apart.

I was just guessing at numbers and figures, pullin’ the puzzles apart.
Questions of science, science and progress, do not speak as loud as my heart.
Tell me you love me, come back to haunt me, oh when I rush to the start.

It’s such a shame for us to part.
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be so hard.
I’m going back to the start.

Sea Song - Lisa Hannigan

There's one man, he's like
The wishful thinking in my life.
He’s like the wine on the weekend.
If I hold tight he'll wash over me.

There's one girl I like, she's a smile on a Monday.
She's like the sun on the weekend.
I like that she sails with me.

There's one man so bright he blocks the light
And he'll always be so.
He's like no sleep on the weekend.
When I hold tight I sink down deep.

Didn't we all break down?
Isn't it all right now?

And though we are like the sea and it's right we be so,
We could chase tails all the years I've been given.

Never Quite Discussed    Terra Naomi

You're the closest thing I know to love so let me in.
The moon is glowing white
and time's a-wasting,
and don't you want to know
what happens when
we start at the start,
before it becomes that thing
that broke my heart in two.
We've been here before,
that place where we dwell until
we find we both want something more.

So let's pretend that for a moment
we have never loved before.
Touch my skin
and I will kiss your lips and
we can both ignore that feeling of weight,
what happens in time,
I know this is cool for now,
but I just might change my mind
and leave you there in the dust.
I know that you loved me a lot
but it was never quite discussed.

The Fear You Won't Fall    Joshua Radin

It hasn't felt like this before,
it hasn't felt like home before you.
I miss you more than I should,
than I thought I could,
can't get my mind off of you.

I know you're scared that I'll soon be over it;
that's part of it all.
Part of the beauty of falling in love with you
is the fear you won't fall.

I wish you'd call.

I'll Not Contain You - The Microphones

I won't look for you in my room.
Through lengthy talks I'll not contain you.

Through calloused work, I will grow soft,
my eyes narrow towards a light;
a place where we hotly radiate.

Momentum  - The Hush Sound

You are the dark ocean bottom
And I am the fast sinking anchor.
Should I fall for you?

Should I show you me?

You are the rain on the fire
Deep in the trees, when no one was looking.
Should I speak of this?
You are a mirage in the distance
That defies the heat of the desert.
Should I believe in you?

These rules are made to break and these walls are built to fall.

All we need is a little bit of momentum,
breakdown these walls that we’ve built around ourselves.
All we need is a little bit of inertia.

Set Free - Katie Gray

There's a cold fire,
there's a crossfire.
And there's something
inside.

There's a long game
that's a wrong chain,
and it's something;
we all hide it inside.

And we'll never make it,
and we'll never break it
until we learn to see,
until we set free.

So set free.

If we could see that this was all that we need
inside our minds,
bodies and souls,
we wouldn't run and we would let go,
cause we'd realize
that we had no control.

I Guess I'll Forget the Sound, I Guess, I Guess - Bodies of Water

Dear, when I touch your face
I can no longer hear
the sound of a million hearts
beating together as one.

And when the night is gone,
and when the dawn has come
I will take the daylight on.

Though my heart once was broke, it's been mended
and the sting of the fracture has ended.

Before the day that I first touched your face
oh, the roar of these things filled my ears.
Then I embraced you and (made partly deaf)
I could just hear our breath as we breathed.

Your arms opened up wide
And the treasure therein was made mine.

A white noise as warm as the sun.

Now that I've found you, dear,
Their plight has lost immediacy.
And now that I've touched your face,
The noise fades from memory.
I guess we'll forget the sound.

I Descend - Aaron LaVigne

"Rest here a while," she said.
"Don't go away just yet.
If you leave me all alone
you won't know
what I really meant to say
just before you hit the road that day,
Though I tried to find a way
But words could not convey."

I'd say "Baby, baby don't you leave me here tonight alone.
I don't want you to go home
I don't want to be alone."

Baby, maybe if I said to you that I'd turn out the light,
Would you come to life,
Would you take that dive?

So tell me to go and I'll stick around.
We can both watch this ship go down.
Ask the right questions, I'll tell the right lies,
Just don't leave me here tonight.

Alone.
Waiting for you, waiting by the phone.
Just be by my side.
I can let you tonight.
I won't let you try and hide.

My Favourite Book - Stars

I was always late, you never afraid, that we could be falling.
And to this day, when everything breaks, you are the anchor that holds me.

You can make my bed, I'll fall into it, shattered but not lonely.
'Cause I never knew a home, until I found your hands,
And when I'm weathered, you come to me you're my best friend.

And that is why we'll always make it.
How I know your face, all the ways you move, you come in, I can read you, you're my favorite book.
All the things you say, the way you shift your eyes; I never knew there was someone to make me come alive.

All the day I wait,
for you to come home, recount our time, in our little place.

Madame de Pompadour - BBC National Orchestra of Wales

Instrumental.

The Sweetheart of the Sun - Choral Arts Ensemble

She stood breast-high amid the corn; golden light,
Clasp’d by the golden light of morn,
Like the sweetheart of the sun.

On her cheek an autumn flush,
Deeply ripen’d; such a blush
In the midst of brown was born,
Like red poppies grown with corn.

Round her eyes her tresses fell,
But long lashes veil’d a light,
That had else been all too bright.

And her hat, with shady brim,
Made her tressy forehead dim;
Thus she stood amid the stooks,
Praising God with sweetest looks:

Sure, I said, Heav’n did not mean,
Where I reap thou shouldst but glean,
Lay thy sheaf adown and come,
Share my harvest and my home.
