He wasn't sulking. Just because the girls had mobbed Isshu instead, that was no reason to sulk. It was the leather outfit, that was all it was; an unfair advantage if ever there was one.
Kai sighed and rubbed at the back of his head ruefully. Or it could just be that he was bad with girls; he didn't understand them at all. Sae he got, most of the time, but even she had her moments of being really girly and who knew what was going through her head when that happened. What was the point of white knights and roses, anyway?
"Oi! Samezu!" He turned to find Isshu finally catching up with him, looking mussed and distinctly harried. "I can't believe you left me there," the other man huffed and Kai couldn't help the smirk forming on his face. Alright, maybe it was petty but no-one ever said saving the world made you nice.
"You're a ninja, Isshu-chan," he said lightly, unfolding his arms long enough to clap the slightly taller man on the arm. "I have faith in you."
Isshu huffed again but otherwise didn't comment, although Kai thought it was only a matter of time until the Gouraijier called him out on the -chan Kai kept tacking on the end of his name. Kai grinned and was about to continue when he spotted a familiar face sitting at one of the tables of a nearby cafe: Sae. Oh, and Nanami-chan, too; it looked like they'd been shopping as well. He took in the number of bags and, instead of waving as he'd been about to, took a step back, grabbing Isshu's sleeve to drag them away before the girls could spot them. He didn't fancy carrying those bags and he had the sinking feeling he'd probably end up doing just that if they were spotted.
"Kai!" Sae called. "Over here!"
Damn. Busted. Instead of ducking off down the other street, Kai turned around with the brightest smile he could conjure and strolled over, tugging Isshu along with him with a grip of iron. If he was going to end up carrying bags, Isshu could damn well suffer with him. "Hi," he replied, pulling up a chair and making himself comfortable. "Hey, are those strawberries? Ow!" He nursed his smarting fingers and gave Sae a reproachful look. "What was that for?"
"Get your own," she told him loftily, picking a strawberry out of the bowl and popping it into her mouth. "These are mine and Nanami-chan's." Kai stared for a moment as Sae sucked the juice off her fingers, then shook his head quickly to snap himself out of it.
At least, he consoled himself, Isshu seemed to be having a similar problem with Nanami-chan. Well, he supposed he could put up with carrying a few bags if he had to; it didn't look like they were going anywhere any time soon.
