This... is probably a really stupid question, but

ipods play mp3 files, right? I'm thinking about just caving and getting one but a lot of the music on my harddrive is mp3 and it would be a colossal waste of time getting an ipod if I can't actually listen to the music I want. *is extremely not techy*

So, um, help?

*sighs in relief* Good to know. I'm just... not that technically aware most of the time and while I knew it would play music off CDs, mp3 files were a big sticking point for me, and with most of my sentai and Arashi music being mp3, it wouldn't make much sense getting an ipod if I couldn't listen to them. Thanks for the help. :)

Oh yeah, those are totally okay for ipod. I have a bunch of my sentai music and the few Arashi songs on mine. :3 You're good.

I was under the impression that iPods wouldn't play anything but MP3 files, as loading CD's into iTunes converts them into MP3 for consumption.

But that's just me assuming, because I don't have an iPod or iTunes yet. I have had as successive series of super crappy MP3 players though, so you can probably imagine how badly I want a real iPod. :P

*grins* I'm so not technically competent with stuff like that so it's good to get confirmation from as many people as possible. :)

Oh yes, believe me I can relate. *nods* A lot. :)
