I'm sorry this isn't better, but argh I swear I've been working on it for 2 weeks and time is running out!

In terms of bars, this was certainly one of the seediest she had been in. Scanning the room for her quarry, Astrid finally spied Peter at the counter. He was sitting alone, and judging by the number of empty shot glasses in front of him, she had no problem figuring out why.
Watching as Peter motioned to the bartender for another shot, she approached from behind and caught the bartender's eye. Flashing her badge, she shook her head no. The man quickly ignored Peter and moved to help another customer.
As Peter turned to face her, she nearly shivered. The cold smile he wore was enough to remind her how much of a threat he would be, if he wanted. Intoxicated, he'd be even more dangerous. Mix in the hurt and pain she knew he was in, and he would be as lethal as an abused animal.
It took a moment for the coldness to disappear, and smile to become more genuine. “Let me guess. Walter slipped a tracker on me.”
“He's only worried about you, Peter.”
“Then why didn't he come with you?”
Astrid steadily held his gaze. “Because I told him you needed a friend, not an overbearing father.”
Peter looked down as guilt flooded his features. “I'm sorry.”
Curious, she asked, “For what?”
He didn't immediately respond. When he did, Astrid could see the sting of pain in his eyes that he was trying to hide. Avoiding her gaze, he sighed, “For a lot of things lately, it seems.”
“Peter,” she tried to assure him, “What happened wasn't your fault. We were all taken in by her. You couldn't have known.”
Shaking his head, he muttered, “I should have known. I should have seen.”
Reaching over, Astrid tilted his head back up so that he was looking directly at her. “Love is blind, Peter. Of course you didn't see. Think of how you still love Walter despite everything he does; everything he's done. Olivia will come around eventually. You're both just in too much pain to think clearly right now.”
Peter merely nodded, but didn't say anything. Astrid could tell he was considering her words. “C'mon,” she softly coaxed, “Let me take you home.”
Sadly smiling, he asked, “There really is no place for me, Astrid. So which home would that be?”
Grinning, she grabbed his hand and started gently tugging him to the door. “The one where you belong.”
