I was going to do Doctor Who 'till I saw this was actually on The List

Show name The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
TEAM Team Sidekick
Description:
Arthur Dent is a being of ape decent just living his life. That is until his house under threat of being demolished and his best friend, Ford Prefect, turns out of be, not from Guildford, but from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Beetleguise, on Earth to write a new entry for The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. This works most fortuitously in Arthur's favour as Ford is able to hitch them ride aboard a Vogon ship hovering above Earth's atmosphere waiting to demolish it to make room for an interstellar bypass. From here Arthur travels through space which is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space, listen. Anyway. Arthur travels on a stolen space craft fueled by improbability, meets a clinically depressed robot, a man with two heads that has no business being galactic president, discovers the meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything but not the question and falls in love.

Probably one of the most educational programmes I've ever seen. I'm always aware of where my towel is now.
It's a show that parodies the entire SciFi genre, while managing to be an excellent SciFi adventure in an of itself. Utter perfect madnesss.

Show name DOCTOR WHO
TEAM Team Sidekick
Description: There's a madman who travels in space with companions in a blue box that's bigger on the inside. All he needs is over confidence, a handy gadget and his sonic screwdriver to save the day. How could this not be awesome?
On the surface Doctor Who could be described as an alien/monster of the week show, but it's so much more. It has to be. It's been on air for over forty years. The characters are amazing, it's witty, clever, imaginative, action packed, the writing is amazing and there's always some eye candy. This description is terrible because I can't put into words how much I love this show.
