I get behind all these except Amy/River, and only because I've never thought it through enough to have an opinion.

...would it help if I said I have this crazy theory that River is a future incarnation of the Master post-EoT heroic sacrifice???

I really need to write down all the reasons I think so.

But top two are also my top two.

Haha, I couldn't really understand Amy/River until I read fic about it. I just keep pretending that one day they'll end up together, simply because I don't like her with Rory and I don't want yet another companion/Doctor ship to happen. ^^

That totally helps. Ah, the theories. ♥ She has to be someone really important, otherwise I'll be miffed.

I dunno... I'm strangely okay with pretty much every ship Doctor Who has presented except those that Moffat used to try to beat us over the head with in his one-off episodes when RTD was showrunner. That being, mostly, Reinette/Doctor and River/Doctor (at the time), but in retrospect with my big theory being rather big now, I am less upset with the latter since it wasn't just another jab at the fact that Moffat, apparently, doesn't care much for Doctor/Rose.

But then, pretending around something you don't like is good, too, which would explain the (what is becoming) epically long RP where we still have Ten and Simm!Master.

But about the River=Master thing--if only I could think to list all the reasons I think so, it's awesome and makes so much sense. Also, it'd be a hilarious jab at the Master's misogyny.

I know the feeling. I really really disliked the Doctor/one-off companion ships a lot. I was so angry when Rose and Mickey were discarded for Reinette with whom he hooked up the instant he saw her. Idk. DNW. And I really really hated River in season 4. She has grown on me in season 5 but I did not like the implications of the library episodes when they aired.

If you do come up with all your reasons, lemme know. I am sure there are some pretty convincing things out there.

Honestly, I refuse to accept the take it or leave it implications with Reinette. I know that the dancing metaphor was there for a reason, but it just completely does not fit my perception of who the Doctor is in the overall canon or as Ten to have him jumping into bed with someone he'd only just met, even if he did really, really like her. It's just not how the Doctor operates and the fact that Moffat tries to do that with Reinette just does not sit well with me at all, and so I just try to focus on the fact that it was left intentionally just a little ambiguous.

I just don't see as the Doctor as someone who engages in sexual activity often and when he has/does it's got to be for much more compelling reasons and with much more build-up than that, simply based upon the fact that he does not pick up on those kinds of social cues and doesn't have the personality to be one to move between lovers often.

I approve of all these ships!! Which is weird, 'cause I don't really ship anything on this show... 11/River is much more epic than 10/River :)
