I hate you scifi channel.

Instead of being able to truly enjoy sci-fi Friday this evening I was sad because I knew that SG-1 had just been cancelled. That channel is made of stupid people. Moving on, but not really...

Stargate SG-1 "Counterstrike"
Morena! When Adria made that pause at the beginning I thought for sure that she had pegged SG-1 and that they were going to be found out. Turns out I was wrong. Shocking, I know. So the Jaffa used the weapon on Dakara to kill lots of innocent people. I never really liked them all that much other than Teal'c, Bra'tac, and other assorted cool Jaffa from the past 10 years. As a whole they are *headdesk* inducing most of the time.

I love what they are doing with Vala as a character. Claudia Black is just so incredibly talented. I would really love to see her continue on with the character, too bad I won't get to do that. /bitter That bonding between Daniel and Vala over loved ones being evil and whatnot was a nice throw back to the old days when Daniel was all about Sha're. Of course it was also kind of creepy because I read a fic earlier today that was kind of similar.

Did I mention how much the Jaffa annoy me? Cause they do. I so wasn't sad that they got all 'sploded at the end.

Adria is an interesting character. I hope we get more of Morena playing her. Vala trying to reach out to her and I know it's a lost cause but wouldn't it be awesome if we could turn the Orici against the Ori?

Landry and Bra'tac, FTW. They got the hell out of dodge as soon as they got the chance. I wonder if that means we will be seeing more of Bra'tac. That would be excellent. Have I mentioned how stupid the Jaffa were?

I really did like this episode. Sam was just smart like, not Super!Sam and I didn't find her at all annoying! Cam and Teal'c got to do that bonding thing, even if it was as prisoners. Daniel and Vala got to spend some quality time with the hot bastard child of evil. Landry got to go off world. Walter got to play worried mother hen. It advanced the Ori storyline. Something we haven't actually done since like the first ep of the season, if I'm not mistaken. Overall a very solid episode.

Stargate: Atlantis "Common Ground"
OMG! I was so freaking pleased with this episode! After a season that hasn't been up to par with notable exceptions like "Sateda" and possibly "Progeny," this was a welcome change. First, we started out with our heroes running away from danger then John got captured by Kolya! Now he's a bad guy I can get behind! I love Kolya, he is just everything a good villain should be. It's something that I don't feel from all the Genii, but def from him. I knew it was going to be a good episode. Also, if I may be quite shallow for a moment. They were back in the black uniforms, WIN! John Leather= fangirly pile of goo. Also, an observation, so far the team has been in the kickass black uniforms exactly twice, and in both those instances a member of the team was left behind. As much as it pains me to suggest this might the team try not wearing the black and the leather as it tends to lead to bad things, like torture, and arrows in asses.

I loved how McKay and Ronon were all insistent on the going back and killing Genii and stuff like that. I gotta say I'm not loving Ladon without the facial hair. Everyone was totally insistant about how they had to go save Sheppard, especially Rodney. I gotta say that my little slashy heart loved the fact that Rodney was more we have to save him that Elizabeth was. This totally proves the John and Rodney are sleeping together and that John is just being nice whenever Liz throws herself at him. Besides, she is totally screwing Zelenka and it's hot nerdtastic sex. McKay was yelling at Koyla over the transmission and then when they mounted the rescue mission he just took off with the commandery stuff until Carson was all WTF McKay? and he was all Oh, just channeling Sheppard there. Then he let Ronon lead.

I totally called that John's cell mate was a Wraith. I think I would have done that even if I hadn't seen last week's promo. They just have this different sound about them. Then the first time John was brought to Koyla's torture chamber (?) and tired to the chair with the leather I was in my happy place. Until of course he got fed on. That was not cool! Sheppard is nothing without his incredibly good looks. Ok, his brain isn't half bad, but still he's not hot when he is half dead. Then Shep was taken back to his cell and he and Tim had a heart to heart. I then decided that somewhere down the line they were going to team up and escape together. The Wraith really aren't evil. They have to feed off humans to live. What's so different from us eating cows and chickens and stuff? So while Shep was getting older and weaker Team Atlantis were not having much luck in finding him.

What's up with all the scientists on the strike team. I mean I can almost understand McKay but Carson? Have we ever seen him fire a gun? Of course then McKay shot off like half a clip because he saw a mouse. Oh, Rodney don't ever change.

I really didn't see how John was gonna get unaged. I figured that Carson would just Deus Ex Machina some piece of ancient tech we have never seen before. I was so very glad that isn't how it played out. Also, I totally called Tim and John teaming up to escape. I also figured that when Tim started talking about how there is much we do not know about the Wraith that he could possibly reverse the process. I was correct! I really do love how John kept his word to Tim and took him to a Wraith planet so that he could rejoin his people. They are totally brothers, except not really because next time they meet all bets are off.

Oh, and that manhole they climbed out of, it has totally been used on SG-1 before. Even my Mom noticed it and she didn't know who Koyla was until I reminded her.

I would really like to explore the Wraith more if we can keep going in this kind of direction. I don't want anymore, "hey let's make them human, nothing could possibly go wrong if we do that" kind of story lines.

So yeah, this ep made me many different kinds of happy, and after seeing the previews I cannot wait for "McKay and Mrs. Miller!" Dude, it's Hewlett, Hewlett, and Hewlett! Plus there is some leather thrown in! Yay! It better not suck.

Psych "Shawn vs. the Red Phantom"
I had fantastically high expectations going into this episode what with it revolving around a convention and having George Takei as himself and David Nykl as a guest star. In true Psych fashion it delivered and then some! Gus really is me. He doesn't like doing anything he isn't supposed to and he has friends who dress up and attend conventions. Shawn doesn't know anything about Star Trek and then he turned into George's personal assistant and Gus got left out in the cold, typical. I totally want to find North Carolina blueberries and take them to George next week at DragonCon does that make me insane? (Don't answer that.)

Then there was David Nykl doing the guest star thing. He was in it not once but three times. He got like actual lines and everything, yay! I was a little off-put by his not Czech accent. I didn't recognize him until he turned so I could see his face.

Basically this episode was made of win and I very much enjoyed it. I do not want to wait until January to see new episodes.

I could probably go on some more but I am made of tired now.

I think I will probably write some more on SGA after I get a chance to rewatch it because I left out so much stuff that I am remembering I wanted to mention.
