Pairing : Steve/Tony (not present at the moment).
This is a temporary extract, it would seem that I'm re-writing the whole story for the 3rd time as a new idea came to play to fix my plot-holes. So I'm not sure if I'm keeping it or not. However, it does fit one of the main relationships between Tony and his "friends"/family.
That was where Tony met, for the first time Tom Hiddleston, a black-haired, green-eyed, British guy who had been assigned to him by the Mentor/Mentee program. He couldn’t have asked for a better brother figure as Tom went beyond everything to make sure that Tony was comfortable during his stay at MIT. Maybe it was due to the fact that Tony was twelve when he arrived but he was certainly not complaining.
Some actions were simple ones, such as bullying the dorm head so that Tony would room in with him (after realising that Tony was being bullied by his so called roommates). Others were a bit more overt, as Tom would bring Tony to parties (while monitoring his alcohol intake) and introduce him to the “right" sort of crowd that wouldn't bother or bully a kid. On top of all of this, Tom was the one to introduce Tony to Rhodey during Tony’s second year at MIT, just so that the heir could have a friend to watch his back later on when Tom graduated.
Tony, by nature of his birth and upbringing, was not one to trust easily. Yet Tom somehow found a way to get under his skin to become someone very close to him. Was it due to Tom’s upbringing, which Tony could guess belonged to a rich, aristocratic family, unlike Tony’s who only one half of such a heritage while the other came from New Money thanks to Howard’s weapon-making skills during WWII ? Or was it the simple fact that Tony was such a lonely little boy that he would gladly the first person that offered him a little comfort ?
(In another dimension, one where Tom and Tony had never met, Tony would easily trust Obadiah Stane, making it so that he would not realise until it was to late to see the old man’s game.)
